I saw that a bit differently, thought jennings wrapped his hands around the fullback and it came off him.

Watch it again, the Sharks player clearly takes the ball out of play.

No he doesn't, Jennings tries batting the ball back from the dead ball line, it hits the Sharks player in the leg (unintentionally) and goes dead.

20m tap every day of the week.

That's the way I saw it too, after first blowing up thinking that the sharks player had played at the ball.

Ref saw it the same way and made the call.

Shielding the ball (which the Cronulla player was doing) is considered playing at the ball. Therefore it should have been a line drop out.

Since when is shielding the ball considered playing at the ball?

              Jennings played at the ball.

I gotta agree with Kegs. The Cronulla player clearly had 2 hands facing the ball palms out & it hit them. Should have been a line drop out.

Firstly, the ball hits Gordon's knee after Jennings bats it back in, secondly, Gordon was shielding the ball dead, had Jennings not touched it, Gordon doesn't go near it.

20m tap every day of the week.

JWH's no try is more of an issue, BUT because the ref called a knock on after Cordner competed for it and before JWH had grounded the ball, even though it was the wrong decision IMO I have no issue with it.

Doesn't matter what Jenko did, Gordon shielded the ball knocking it out play. It's a drop-out, couldn't care less though tbh, was more worried by our defence after that, it was shocking.

It's just hilarious in the current scheme of things that the one time the referee does back himself, he gets it so wrong. However 95% of the time they go upstairs without need.

We have such a poor standard of officiating.

Gordon is effectively not shielding the ball as soon as Jennings knocks in back in field, it hits Gordon's leg unintentionally and goes dead.

20m tap every day of the week.

Otherwise, a part from a few defensive lapses, I thought our D was good for the majority of the match.

From memory though, Gordon uses his hands to play at the ball after Jennings hit it back, I think it should have been a drop-out but I'll just agree to disagree.

I just meant that passage after that, where Feki scored, we should have scrambled to that side of the field faster.

From what I recall, the ball was jammed between Jennings hand and Gordon's knee, before it came lose and went dead.

That's what I meant by a few defensive lapses, the awareness should've been greater

as Manly/Toovey have shown the only way to change things is to keep blowing up until the NRL are sick of hearing about it.
Not to mention the two on one strip off SKD after his beak.
The mid air tackle on Mini that went unpunished.
The non tap by Wright that lead to a nulla try.
And who can forget the Nulla's 65mins of 100% disciplined football.

                              The list is endless.

                              Chook.

Shielding the ball constitutes playing at it, has been the rule for over a decade, definitely since 2000 anyway.
