Remember Smith did not sign Carney, that was done by FW Fittler and POS.

Smith is just putting his own mark on the squad he's been gifted. Sure it involves some experimenting, but there's no harm in that, so long as the players concerned have time to adjust.

Carney will not be playing fullback. Come round one you should see 6. Carney, 7. Dumb and Dumber and 13. Anasta

Should and would are two different things my friend..
We all agree that Carney should be the 5/8th for the next 5-10 years, but unfortunately our coaching staff thinks different..
        Arghhh so frustrating!

          Something is gonna give
To many pieces for this Rooster puzzle
          They don't all fit correctly
          and one will be discarded
I think it will be Anasta
          Not that he deserves it

I'm not saying Carney will be fullback come Round 1, but Smith has been known to surprise with his selections. I reckon Carney will play there in at least one trial before the idea is finally knocked on the head.

Thanks but I'm sure there are others that don't agree with that statement either

Carney is not as great as some are making out imho
I hope I'm wrong and I'll be supportive as long as he keeps his nose out of trouble off the field and gives his best on it

Imho we have paid overs and signed him for too long if the rumoured contract details are close to the truth.

the word is that POS has been lobbying Smith to retain Anasta and Pearce in the halves.

Further evidence if true that Carney was most likely a Politis big name big money signing. Hopefully he does not turn out to be a dud like most of the others.

Carney was signed in the same vein as Willie Mason - a player signed almost specifically for the purpose of being a 'big-name player' who can draw crowds, regardless of our depth in the particular position.

I think Carney is a great player, but so is Mason, and his signing cost us crucial depth and experience in the backrow with the losses of Harrison, Fitzgibbon and Tupou.

We don't NEED Carney, but now that we have him, we are trying to accommodate him into the team.

                          Please God no

The team needs to improve their attack. Anasta and Pearce don't threaten the line. Playing Carney anywhere else but in the halves will mean his signing is a waste of time, and the backline will be as innefective as last year.

Mack I think you are throwing the term great around very loosely there
Mason whilst a former test player who was very good in his prime cannot be considered a great along side players like Lockyer, Fittler or Johns.

As for Carney that is laughable he has not even played SOO yet. He might one day if he can get his act together.

I feel Politis is turning our first grade team into too much of a marketing tool for crowds etc. He shouldn't have anything to do with recruiting players and that's why the club has employed a recruitment manager to take care of those sorts of things. But any big name player who becomes available, Politis will want to buy him and will pay overs to do so just so he can market the team.

He's a goal kicker & a playmaker with genuine speed.

                                Of course we need him.
