  • would Kevin Proctor be the right replacement for SBW

apparently its getting down to the pointy end of the chase for Kevin Proctor and we are well in the running, I'm not sure if he is the ideal replacement for SBW, he is a solid FG player but I wonder how much of that is down to the Storm/Bellamy system rather than natural talent.

the figure being bashed around is $500k a season, surely we would be wise to spend the money elsewhere.

have long been a believer we should hold fire on recruitment for 2015 and have a shot at either Folau or DCE for 2016 when the likes of SBW/Mini/SKD/Maloney will all be off the books.

what is the chookpens consensus on Proctor as a possible addition to the team?

I've watched Proctor closely over the years primarily because of SuperCoach and he hasn't improved a great deal over the years and as such I'm not excited by the prospect of him joining the Roosters. I would rather see JWH moved back to second row and have his ball skills further developed or utilised. If someone has to be signed in terms of body shape for body shape, I can see why they're allegedly chasing Proctor. I'd like Fifita to replace SBW though I realise that is beyond the cap for the Roosters.

Don't rate him TBH, he is very one dimensional and never really improved his game over the years. Harris from the Storm (if off contract) would be a better fit and probably cheaper. Plus backrowers are a dime a dozen in the NRL. I reckon we hold our fire as we have plenty of up and coming talent and go for a big name in 2016.

So that is a definite no from me especially if it is $500K.

We already have the talent in the back row. Cordner, guerra, maubs and the likes of Meehan, langi and rhyse martin coming through. Not to mention evans possibly playing there.

No need for Proctor at all.

Guerra and Aubusson are better IMO.

We'd be better off upgrading the likes of Isaac Liu.

Yeh I genuinely think Aubusson & Guerra are better than him, if we seriously spend 500k on him, hell if we spend 300k on him I'll have massive questions over the people making the decision to sign him. He's the epitome of average.

                  Wouldn't give him 50k let alone 500.

He'd be lucky if I even fed him.

The only thing on his highlight reel is him steam rolling Inglis.

Totally agree - there is an insatiable appetite on here to buy buy buy....why why why?

Do the stats stack up for him to be worth getting at 500k?? He hasn't exactly been making headlines for his performances this year.

A mate of mine who is a 'big' eels supporter, keeps on crapping on about how good Manu Ma'u is. He is off contract at the end of next year and could be a better option than Proctor.

We always have an option of having Napa play backrow and go after a prop.

I certainly would love to see Meehan step up next year and take over from SBW!!
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

                      Here's looking at you, kid.

Solid player but how many of the Storm regime have left and gone on to play good football at other club?
There is no one out there who can replace what Sonny brings to the table. Tariq Simms would be a huge get but at what cost? Great impact player, as is David Fiffita, probably a quater of the cost of his brother too.
I'd still like us to keep with our youth policy and keep developing the talent we already have though

I'd be very surprised if parra let him go the way he has been talked up.

Gee 500k for proctor?? Some crap players are making some very good money these days.

                            I'd prefer Jesse Bromwich.

When is he on the market?

Yeah I wouldn't imagine the eels letting him go easily.

I know Proctor was very good in the storm's premiership year of 2012. I can't recall how good he was last year, this year he hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire to justify a supposed 500k a season price tag!

He is an edge backrower, it isn't like we are really lacking in that department with Cords, Guerra and Maubs.

If we do end up getting him, so be it, I'll back Robbo's judgment and hope that we at least get him at a decent price.
