Manly are the team to look at when trying to balance having enough First Grade standard depth along with consistently developing young players. They've signed Justin Horo & Tom Symonds in recent years for very paltry sums.

My mail is the Roosters offer was the most pleasing to Proctor. Not necessarily in terms of cash but wanting to play with the Roosters.
On another note, if Proctor is keen to sign on the basis of really wanting to play for us rather than the Roosters offering him the most money, then I back the signing because we know a determined and dedicated player who will give his all will be lining up for us next year

So we won't have as much free cash to splash as some of you are assuming. Remember, the club has known since the end of last year that the bloke would be returning to Yawnion and so would have included it in their sums when re-signing players.

NRL set to announce changes to salary cap
The NRL is set to finally unveil wide-ranging changes to the salary cap this week, chief operating officer Jim Doyle said on Monday.
Club chief executives are due to be briefed on Wednesday after an exhaustive review of the cap, which was first set in motion by NRL chief executive Dave Smith last July, and an announcement is expected later in the week.
Doyle said most of the changes would be implemented for the 2015 season but some would have to wait until the expiry of the current collective bargaining agreement, which runs until 2017.
The cap now stands at $6.3 million for a club’s top 25 players, a figure that will increase to $6.55million next year, $6.8 million in 2016 and $7million in 2017. However, under the terms of the CBA, the cap and its allowances could go up even further in its final two years after a review.
Minor changes – a rise in the long-serving player allowance from $200,000 per club to $250,000 and a lift in the second-tier salary cap from $375,000 to $440,000 – have already been outlined. But more significant ideas – such as a marquee player concept that would allow the NRL to help clubs recruit players from outside the competition, and a radical proposal to give Smith jurisdiction over centrally contracting stars and what team they played for – have also been discussed as part of the review.
‘‘There are a couple of little things that we’re still working through but largely the review has been completed and recommendations have been done,’’ Doyle said at the launch of the NRL’s Women in League round.
‘‘It’s been through the [ARL] Commission. It’s now just a case of going through it with the clubs CEOs, the RLPA and closing off a few things and then obviously we can implement them. We’ve done some stuff for this year as you know, the rest of it will come in for next year. There will be some recommendations from it that ... we can’t do anything about at the moment but for the next CBA we need to be looking to put that type of thing in place.’’Last edited by theGman; 05-05-2014, 11:49 PM.

Where would we play Folau?? Considering RTS is our next fullback and the time and money spent in developing him, the club wont ditch that plan.
Centre maybe?? But even then, with Folau being our highest paid player I would want him to have his hands on the ball a lot more than centre.

Good centres can be just as effective and involved as any good fullback. Look at Jamie Lyon.
There just seems to be a dearth of classy centres at the moment. Most are exceptional finishers, pure athletes or 2nd rowers plugging a hole.
Its a rarity to see a centre who can consistently put their winger away but if they can there really shouldn't be any concerns about their involvement rate.
Folau is both an exceptional athlete and finisher, he's shown over his career that he's got the aptitude and tempremant to adapt to whatever position he's asked to do with huge success. I have no doubt his ball playing skills would have improved in Union like Sonny's did and the possibility of him coming back a better player than he left is a very realistic possibility. If and it's all hypothetical Folau came back to league I think he'd kill it in the centres and there'd be no issue over getting consistent quality ball to him. He'd be a focal point of any attack just like Jamie Lyon is for Manly.

Storm raided
Canberra has jumped in with a late bid for star Storm back-rower Kevin Proctor.
And the Raiders' offer is bigger than that of the two clubs who looked set to fight out the battle for Proctor - the Dragons and the Roosters.
Ricky Stuart has made Proctor his number one target and has told Proctor's management he will do whatever it takes.
Proctor is the most sought-after player on the market and boosted his stocks with a strong display for the Kiwis against Australia in last Friday night's ANZAC Test.
The Raiders are desperate for more attacking strike on the edges and see Proctor as the ideal fit.
With Melbourne having fellow back-rowers Ryan Hoffman and Tohu Harris also off contract, they are resigned to losing the big back-rower.
