The guy that got sent off made Kane Evans look small.

The most interesting thing about the game was that Blake Ferguson was there spectating.

Also interesting to see Brian Smith there.

Interesting indeed. I am sure we can build some conspiracy theory from there!
Maybe Smithy is looking for a new coaching gig? The Flake sighting is of greater concern.

Smithy misses coaching. Blake the snake is checking out the team he'll start with next year.

Smithy's son coaches the NZ reserve grade side.

I believe he was with us at one stage, good analyst of the game. They've been very good all year not surprised to see him doing well.

Had a quick little chat with Fergo yesterday at the game. I came straight out and asked him if he would be at the roosters next year. He didn't say anything but by the the grin on his face and the wink that he gave me, I'm almost 100% sure he will be.

Just on the game itself, The Jets were extremely ordinary. It is really hard to judge who is ready to play first grade becuase the good players are surrounded by very ordinary players. Moga looked like a man who hasn't played any footy for a long time. Dropped the ball at least 3 times and was left stranded in defence many, many times with one, two or three giant Warriors players charging at him. On the plus side, when he did hold the ball he looked strong and he came through the game unscathed. Doubt we will be seeing him in first grade this year unless we have a massive injury toll.

I have never seen such a big football side then the Warriors yesterday. Like someone else said, the guy that got sent off towered over Kane Evans........massive, massive human and he was not alone, it was like land of the giants out there. To be honest I think the jets players were beaten before the kick-off.

I think it comes down to cost.

The Jets do their own fundraising and apply for funding through the league. We'd have to absorb that cost if we took the reserve grade back.

            Chook.

Both Newtown and the Roosters use the same attacking and defensive structures so that players going either way are able to slot into whichever team they are going into.
All the Roosters contracted players train with the Roosters squad and then those not in the top 17 who are told to play with the Jets generally only have one run with the Jets before the weekend.
It would cost the Roosters a lot more to run their own reserve grade as said on here before.
The benefit would be the three squads training together so the move between the teams would be/should be seamless.
The downside would be no Jets and so Saturday arvo at Henson.
The relationship between the clubs is great and most Roosters put in when they play for the Jets.
There are more people at Henson watching the Jets than there are at the U/20's games at Allianz too.

                Not Happy Jets!!!

I was at the game yesterday very disappointed with the team efforts. In reality Jets= pub team. Auckland = national side, Jets have p/time footballers with a hand full of roosters players. No funding from Roosters, no play maker at the moment for Jets, u have a p/time half back who doesn't really offer anything. Langi trying to play 5/8 when he's a back rower. Fullback past his use by date.....won't contest the ball while it's in the air. Also your coming off a FG premiership (roosters) & Jets cannot received any
50/50 calls at home. There just like the FG team getting sausaged by the on field ref. Don't expect Jets to play semi for 2 yrs
without them developing their youths.....bring back H Wells, R Jacks etc...

I agree with pretty much all of this. Wells and Jacks were let go by the Roosters though. The refs must also take their hatred of The Chooks to Henson Park. Jets got reamed yesterday. Wouldn't changed the scoreline much but still...
I didn't really see Casty stand out much either.

Thanks for he explanation Muffy. I suspected those things would be club wide.

The relationship is a win-win for both clubs.

It gives us the luxury of a reserve grade without all the costs.

And it gives Pootown the ability to compete using some 1st grade quality talent which they'd have trouble attracting in a lot of cases.

We have to remember its reserve grade. It is what it is therefore it shouldn't shock when players aren't up to 1st grade. They are at that level for a reason.

Not bagging Pootown or their players, just fact. The jump between grades is huge. Most wont ever make the transition.

It's rare all 3 grades are killing it. Really reserve grade is there so first graders coming back from injury have somewhere to gain match fitness and fringe first graders can bide their time for a crack at the big time.

They are mostly part timers. That's the reality of life.

IMO people get too hung up on lower graders form and results. Sure it's good to win but really as long as 1st grade are travelling well I couldn't care less Whats going on in the lower grades week to week.

                    The FlogPen .

                    You know it makes sense.

The SFS will only allow 2 games played a day there. I hope they have managed to get an exemption because its stupid and 3 grades is def the best thing, people then start getting some value for money
