  • Where are we at?????

Hi Rooster fans where do you think we are at as a team and individually?

    Welcome your thoughts

As a team, starting to hit form injuries to Maloney and Jennings are a worry. With some luck we easily could or should have beaten the dogs and eels.

Robbo - what a pickup for us. I think the ship is heading in the right direction and we will build. SOO will be a challenge for us

Mini - 5/10 - rarely threatens the line these days, has made some good trysaving tackles but can have a howler when catching a kick. will be last season
RTS - 7.5/10 - what a step and with some play at fullback is showing some ball skills
Jennings 7/10 - a little quiet but I think he was not seeing good ball in most games. Worries the opposition every time he has room to run.
SKD 7.5/10 - still has a brain snap BUT he has improved and runs hard which makes him hard to tackle
Topou 7/10 - damaming runner and being blocked when chasing kicks. needs to learn to finish better. Should have scored another 4 tries this season but poor finishing has cost him
Maloney 5/10 - had his best game v the dragons but form has been down as his support play has been poor. Goal kicking has been brilliant
Pearce 7/10 - solid without being brilliant
JWH - 6/10 - down on form compared to last year
Friend 8.5/10 - Fantastic most improved player in the comp. attack continues ro surprise like the kick through v the dragons
Moa - 8/10 - lead the charge, well done
Boyd 6.5/10 -some good moments but overall down on form
Aubs 7/10 - Mr fixit - fills in and makes an impact wherever he plays
Adrian 8/10 - BHP the quiet achiever - gets the job done
SBW 4/10 - poor, no tries and no try assists. Impact is low
Napa 3/10 - I expected more. attack is poor
Morts - 5.5/10 - very few minutes but can make an impact (Brisbane game). Will get more time with Maloney being injured
Lui 7/10 - Good go forward, does his job off the bench
    Evans 5.5/10 - looks promising

5th on the ladder and a week off won't hurt Easts efforts to get better.. If Easts had beaten the Dogs they would be running 1st atm, no need to peak to early. plenty of games left mate..

Most improved player this season is SKD by far.. Seems to have grown stronger and faster, also now knows how to tackle unlike before. Has probably made more tackle busts this year than the last 2 years combined.

There are weak links in this team, the sooner people realise that the better.

Last year was a false dawn. When $BW goes, we'll crash back down to the middle of the pack.

          Fourth best attack.

          Third best defence.

          We haven't warmed up yet.

Only major injuries can stop us.

          Easts to win.

the weak link thing is mostly a mental condition & can be easily fixed
if players are serial offenders the onus sits with the coach
nepotism, favouritism, teachers pet(ism) can get in the way
              Warriors, Sharks are easy examples,
talk regarding Tedesco is a sign roosters are looking at continuity

We are pretty much where I expected us to be, had us around the 50-60% win ratio mark after 10 matches which we are on track for.

A lot of people seem to forget the majority of our squad did not have a proper off-season due to the world cup, Robbo and the training staff built our entire routine based on this and the top priority was not burning the players out. I expect us to hover around the bottom of the 8/just outside the 8 until our final 9 matches (6 at home) where we'll win 6 or 7 of them to finish in the top 4.

And who are these people that have to realise? Me ,You, everyone in here? Last time i saw, no one here has the power to do much about it. As for the weak links, who are these? And if so who is suitable with the experience to cope in first grade to replace these weak links?

the only weak links apart from maybe mini are the airmchair critics and foxtel fans!

I've seen just three games this year, due to being overseas in soccer crazed countries.
That Anzac Day game was the best of what I've seen. So direct and a lot quicker than even last year. The little tip ons between the forwards is still work in progress. FPN had one of those games that would put him in the top echelon of neo-Lock forwards if he played like he did more consistently. Pearce was so quick and direct in play and looked so dangerous with ball in hand. He is showing that he can play on instinct with what's in front of him; and usually come up with he correct play. He was good at doing that circa 2008.
Robbo's obvious succession plan of easing RTS into the FB role is another example of his considerable level of coaching aptitude.
I, in no way, subscribe to any of the assertions that Napa is a bench (type) impact player. Yes, he defends well, but he doesn't make the metres in attack.
I think SKD should play on the wing. He's a much more dangerous ball runner when he has the space (and therefore time enough) for the brain to engage. Tupou may spend some time in reserves until Mini retires though.
Still no opinion yet on Tupou. I'll wait until his third year before making a judgement call on him. If that story that I read in a Rugby column about us actively chasing Folau is true; Tupou can make a return to first grade when Mini retires.
Guerra shiits on Maubs as a back rower. I hope Guerra plays with us until retirement.
When SBW leaves, we need a backrower like Tariq Sims. He has an offload. He is starting to display the lunacy and that seemingly lack of self preservation that he did before breaking his leg (twice).
