Sonny Bill Williams has lost six kilograms after a bout of tonsilitis but says he will be fit for Sydney Roosters' match against Wests Tigers at Allianz Stadium on Friday.

Williams caught the virus during a recent holiday to Bali but said the trip had relaxed him and he felt confident the Roosters could become the first team to win back-to-back premierships in more than 20 years, despite a slow start to the season.

The Kiwi superstar has been frustrated by his form and said he had been putting too much pressure on himself this season. After spearheading the Roosters to victory in last year's grand final against Manly, Williams said he had been guilty of trying to come up with big plays every time he touched the ball, but was now concentrating on the simple things.

"I went to Bali last week with the family and got tonsilitis," Williams said. "I lost just under six kilos, so I have just started to come good now, but I should be sweet for Friday night.

"I think coming into this season my mindset had changed a bit where I thought I had to go out there and try to do something special every game and every time I touched the ball. But now I have narrowed it down to just back to what I do, and that is just those one percenters and try to earn the boys respect in that sense."

The dual international did a photo shoot for a sponsor on Monday before his return to New Zealand rugby union next season and an interview with Channel Nine in which he spoke about coping with life in the fish bowl and his reported marriage to Alana Raffie.

"She's my girl but, in regards to that situation, I just keep that private," Williams said. "Everyone is going to have their say like they already have.

"Just the other day we were coming out of the mall and there was a photographer there taking photos of us, so that was pretty crazy, but when it comes to that side of my life, I tend to keep it personal."

Asked how he coped with life in the fish bowl, Williams said: "I think I am definitely OK with it now. I think, before when I was younger, I wasn't confident within myself as a person, but now I am confident in myself as a man. I know who I stand for."

              Of course.
He's lucky that's all he caught.

I just knew something would happen to him as soon as I heard he was going to Bali.
