  • Maloney needs pain killing injections to play for the next month

Robbo was just on NRL360 and said that Maloney will need pain killers to play over the next month due to his AC joint injury.

looks like the club is going down the Cordner route and hoping that Maloney will able to be play through the pain, hopefully he doesn't cop another bad knock to his shoulder that causes more damage.

Silly considering we play a depleated Tigers this week.. Surely Morts/Williams will fill in @ 6?

What else did Robbo have to say on the show? Did he speak about Moa?

I think you will find Jimmy will be real keen to play this week.He will want to impress Daley in the next two weeks to keep his origin jersey.

Not sure its a great idea to play Maloney this weekend at least, playing with pain killing injections is not a great thing to be doing, surely the long time picture is more important, to have him right when it matters most.
I think his SOO options have passed, I'am pretty sure one of the 5/8ths from the city vs country game, will get the job, at least the first game,, so better to try and get the shoulder as strong as possible.

You're wrong there. It's been widely reported that Maloney is first choice for 5/8th for NSW.

Really surprised if they have to needle him up. We can't be that desperate to have to play him. Potter will demand his big men run at him all night! Risky proposition for mine, hopefully the injury doesn't get any worse.

They would only be risking him if there was a slim to no chance of doing more damage...

Maloney should be rested. Play Sonny-Bill at 6. That's worth the admission price alone.

And give the NSW jumper to Reynolds. He's got Origin written all over him. The less Chooks playing in that boorish spectacle the better.

                    Amen.
Far too rough that SOO for Jimmy.
What about a nice car for him as a consolation for missing the series? [ or is that banned these days?...but everyone else seems to have a 3rd party agreement].

This match against the Tigers is totally vital for us to win...at home.
Play Jimmy on the wing, as an 'injured player'.
He could be the 3rd tackler in and flop on the pile...that should be ok...the other teams do it against us without censure.

I don't see a problem in Jimmy being needled up - it's a common occurrence on a weekly basis at most clubs. Cordner spent most of last season being needled and guess what - he managed to play Origin, win a premiership and go on a Roo tour.

If the player and coach, in consultation with the medical staff, come to the conclusion that there are no long term risk with a player being needled to play, then I'll trust their judgment.

2 points is 2 points, and they are needed by the Chooks. Treat your opposition with contempt by not fielding your strongest side available is fraught with danger. The Tigers have ambushed a few sides this year, who have probably taken them too lightly. We don't want to be the next in line.

If the Tigers give Jimmy extra attention and try to hurt him...no worries, belt their new young star halfback or whatever he is...and hurt him.
Two can play the thug game...and it's about time we fought back.

I personally wouldn't pick Maloney needled/numbed up. The medical staff & Maloney would have a better idea of whats going on then me but I just feel Maloney is going to be targeted tomorrow night big time. Time will tell if it was the right decision or not.

Player management has been first class under Robbo, I doubt it will change..
