  • Guerra must be damn close to a QLD bench spot for origin 1

with Papali/Teo/McQueen not exactly setting the world on fire and Guerra playing some outstanding football over the last month, surely he must be very close to a bench spot for origin 1.

a possibly scenario would be that he is 18th man for origin 1 due to the fact QLD are very loyal to a winning squad but should they lose origin 1, he surely would be inline to make his debut.

I reckon SOO would suit him he is a big game player who fires better when the big games are played .I would give him a bench spot at best for the moment.

I think he got bashed early in the match was was much less effective than previous matches. Hope he has no longer term injury.

Agree that he is up to SOO standard - just wonder what his selection would do to accelerators in his contract and our cap...

The effen SOO forward need some kind of variety .I mean not to put down trihards like Gallen and Bird and Farrah but they hog too much ball you want guys smashing up the middle and let thehalves do there thing for a change. The NSW halves for years cop the blame but I have rarely seen NSW forwards put it over the Queenslanders may be once in the last 8 years.

I hadn't really thought about it until I read this but the possibility of Guerra playing for QLD is actually quite depressing. Being a Rooster fan I am sometimes quite neutral because of the many QLD origin greats that have played with us. Different now. The Queenslanders have taken the wee for too long. Tupou and Jennings on one wing, Idris and Morris on the other. Bang. Size and speed. If we can hold them up front I reckon those four outside backs with maybe Dugan behind, can get the tries we need.

He only played 48 mins last night yet still racked up 35 tackles and 75 metres from 9 hitups.

            Love Guerra.

Guerra a QLD'r???? FFS!!! Not another one. The only good out of it is that QLD don't chop & change their team as much as NSW therefore unlikely to get chosen by senator Mal.

Ditto - quality work on a quality opposition , Tigpies have run over heaps of packs in the early part of this year.

I have been impressed with how much Aidan has stiffened up his front on D this year , his work one on one against opposition big boys has been inspirational.

Queenslander this year ? Good on him if so , if not he will be better next year.

If Maloney, Pearce, Jenko, Toops, Cordner and Guerra are all picked we would definitely be in a bit of trouble.

If they all happened to be picked though, our team should be:

                    1. Mini
                    2. Reuben/Naughton/Milne/Macdonald
                    3. Moga
                    4. SKD
                    5. RTS
                    6. Langi/Hastings/Morts
                    7. Morts/Hastings
                    8. Jared
                    9. Friend
                    10. Moa
                    11. SBW
                    12. Maubs
                    13. FPN

                    14. Evans
                    15. Napa
                    16. Liu
                    17. Casty/Sio Siua Taukeiaho

Im presuming you mean Brett Morris?
His brother Josh a current Australian player will be in the centres for NSW unless injured.
Jennings should get the other centre position but Im liking what I am seeing from big Idris at Penrith.

I posted a few of years ago that I rated Idris, before he left the Dogs & that he should be in the centres for NSW if he is on song. Idris fully fit belting or running over Queenslanders would be good to see.

On Guerra, he is 1 hell of a tough guy probably the Roosters toughest.

He will definitely play SOO this year at some stage IMO.

He is a no frills, socks down, scruffy bearded, gangly, awkward looking old school roughnut who is a genuine consistent first grader who makes very few mistakes.

The quiet achiever of the Roosters very unassuming , underrated and an exciting prospect post SBW , he appears to be adaptable to any challenge the team/coach asks of him.

I think Idris is a must for origin. His size and ability to hold off defenders is ideal for the grind of those games and it gives NSW some much needed size out wide. With a speedy winger and fullback inside and outside, he will be a weapon. I wouldn't even mind both the Morris boys in that backline. I'm also hearing that at least one Reynolds boy will be in the halves. With no byes at origin time, having either Maloney or Pearce in the line-up would be a boost for us.
