  • the story gets better Cordner and Pearce got banned from Clovelly Hotel last night

Mitchell Pearce's NSW State of Origin hopes are under a cloud as police investigate an early morning incident at a Kings Cross nightclub.

Police are investigating what they described as an "interaction" between NSW and Sydney Roosters halfback Pearce and another person near the nightclub dance floor about 1.30am on Sunday.

Channel Nine reported a "visibly distressed" young woman had approached police and pointed out Pearce.

He was escorted from the club by security and later arrested by police when he allegedly became argumentative and refused to leave the area.

While he was issued with an infringement notice involving a fine for failing to leave a licensed premises and banned from the area for 48 hours, police said they were continuing to investigate what happened inside, reviewing CCTV footage and seeking witnesses.

"At this stage they've just alleged to police an interaction that's occurred between two people," Inspector Craig Lowery told reporters.

"Someone who has witnessed the offence has alerted police to what's happened."

He wouldn't say whether the "interaction" was with a woman but he did confirm Pearce wasn't in a fight.

"... At this stage it's too early in the investigation to determine what's happened," Lowery said.

It wasn't the first trouble 25-year-old Pearce encountered that night.

He and his NSW Origin and Roosters teammate Boyd Cordner were asked to leave the Clovelly Hotel about 10.30pm on Saturday after allegedly becoming aggressive with security staff.

Several other Roosters players were also asked to leave as a result and it's understood Pearce and Cordner were told they're not welcome to return.

Incumbent halfback Pearce was seen as a certain selection for the NSW team to be named in nine days for the State of Origin series opener against Queensland in Brisbane on May 28.

He had helped spark the Roosters to a 30-6 NRL win against Wests Tigers on Friday night.

The Roosters issued a terse statement which made no reference to an incident inside the nightclub.

"The Sydney Roosters have been made aware that Mitchell Pearce was issued with an infringement notice for failure to quit a licensed premises overnight," the Roosters said.

"The infringement notice was issued and the fine paid.

"The Roosters have advised the NRL's Integrity Unit.

"From here, the club will address the matter internally and will be making no further comment."

They must have gone on a long session after the SG Ball win, maybe not such a good idea getting the NYC and NRL squads to go to the game together.

disappointing to see half our leadership group leading the charge, I'm not surprised about Cordner it was reported multiple times during the off season about how he and Carney were playing up.

Exactly. We could see this coming with Boyd, even if some didn't have an issue with him sharing a house with Todd Carney.

I'm starting to fear for our leadership group once Mini and SBW leave. It might even be grounds to give Mini another 1-year contract.

What I just don't understand are all these angry young men when on the piss.

I'm as nice as apple pie on the grog. Polite as can be and on the odd occasion I've been refused entry to a premise it's "no problem" and I'm off on my way.

But the majority of young men are just angry, aggressive mother****ers. They need to chill the **** out or stay off the piss altogether.

going to be an interesting day at Roosters HQ tomorrow if they haven't already been dragged over the coals today.

setting Pearce aside, a group of young men on the piss being stupid isn't the greatest crime in the world, but for professional athletes it just goes to show they aren't willing to do everything in their power to win the title this year, it has showed in their performances this year to date.

That is disappointing. The chookpen has had it's share of who would be the next captain and I've never given it much thought but Cordner would come in to calculations in my opinion. Hopefully a one off incident but I'm starting to think Maloney may be the man for the job. He's settled with a family, not much shit about him and is on the field for 80 minutes - just my thoughts.

Given it's pretty much been the official "Everyone Loves Sam Moa" week I say we give it to the big fella.

But seriously, I think it's now a battle between JWH & Friend. I'd make them co-captains.

Jake Friend is the man for the job.

Good suggestion, he's out there most of the game (all of it without Mortimer) and has his life back on track. Would (if not already) lead by example. Not a whingeing hooker like Ennis, Smith, Farah who cry when every decision goes against them.

I understand that it isn't everyone's thoughts but I would like the captain of the Roosters to be only 1 player & that they are involved in the game for the entire 80 minutes.

Jake Friend is still the man. He has not has one issue since being re-instated in 2010.

There are just some repeat offenders in our club, and other guys that you just can't imagine doing anything.

SKD, JWH and ill give him credit, FPN, are three guys that i just cant imagine would do anything stupid on the piss. Maubs is another, and of course there is mini.

Pearce has a history and Cordner has had well documented troubles. They need to be kept off it or disaster will strike.
