I think the most disturbing part is the fact that the media don't even realise that it's their beaten up, fallacious & insinuating articles that are damaging the game, not Mitchell Pearce's actions. Sure Pearce was drunk and acting a little rowdy... we've all been there but he clearly didn't do a whole lot wrong. Certainly nothing that deserved 1 tenth of the coverage this story got & certainly nothing if reported on ethically and correctly would've brought any real negative attention to the game.
Paul Crawley wrote an article this morning that read;
I'm sorry, what? The only thing that video exposed was how over the top the media coverage was of this whole incident, not that you should expect the media to own up they live in a bubble where they only ever call for accountability never themselves do they accept it. They're so delusional as to how much they're damaging the game it truly is disturbing. The funny part of it all is in a couple of weeks time after slandering his (Pearce's) name I bet you the same reporters will want to hear from Mitchell Pearce after SOO and if he chooses not to do interviews with the same unethical reporters who slandered his name they'll whinge about how the media just give, give, give & the players don't care about good of the game.
It's a little upsetting to see some of our fans have the default stance of guilty instead of backing Pearce & the club until proven otherwise but given the recent history at the club I reckon this has opened up a few old wounds. Now it's time to back the club & back Pearce & stop feeding the troll that is the media.
