  • Pearce & Maloney dropped

Daley is going to carry a rookie halves pairing up to Lang Park in Game 1 of Hodkinson & Reynolds.

On the positive side hopefully we can get our season back on track now.

although they will be disappointed at least they won't have to cop the criticism when NSW gets beaten again, of more concern is that it is being reported Cordner is seeing a surgeon today about his ankle injury, fingers crossed its not as bad as the one he suffered last season.

Judiciary - NO CHARGES this weekend. Guess we were due for a quiet one after last week #NRL

I rather have them playing for us than NSW

I prefer premierships over origin trophies

I thought the NSW team wasn't announced until tomorrow?

If true then Maloney and Pearce have dodged a major bullet in my opinion.

Even if we had Fittler and Johns in the halves for the first Origin game in QLD we are absolutely no chance of getting up,especially with all the injuries and disruptions.

So we get to keep our Club halves pairing against a weakened Dogs line up this week, then after NSW get belted Pearce and Maloney will get reinstated for Game 2 in a much better oppurtunity to get the win

I would seriously doubt that the new Origin halves would be dumped after one match, even if NSW are heavily defeated. It would be highly unusual and probably unfair. I reckon we will have our halves pair for the entire Origin series now and as a result we have a far better chance of making the Top 4. Anymore than nine losses and we'd miss the Top 4 and we already have five. A Canterbury loss would have dealt us a massive blow in that regard. We are still not guaranteed a win but we have our halves available Friday and they do not - this is a massive turnaround from what it was looking like a fortnight ago.

Is this an opinion ... or a bit of inside knowledge ?

I disagree I think this year and last year have been our best chances. Mal has really stuffed up the QLD pack because of his 'mobile backrowers' philosophy which sees him select no props on the bench. Had Hayne & Gallen been available for game 3 I have no doubts we probably would've taken the series.

If Daley gets his selections spot on I like NSW this year, we need to win game 1 though because there's no chance we'll win a decider up in QLD. Picking a debut halves pairing to lead a side around the park @ Suncorp really isn't a good start though I'm afraid. History shines unfavourably on debutant halves pairings, I believe I'm correct in saying that not no pairing of two debutant halves has ever lead a side to victory in the history of SOO.

                      Excellent news.

This may give our Premiership defence the boost it desperately needed.

My mail on Friday was ....this was the NSW side 1- HAYNE 2- TOPOU 3- JENNINGS 4- MORRIS 5- MORRIS 6- MALONEY 7 PEARCE 13-CORDNER 12-HOFFMAN 11- SCOTT 10- GALLEN 9- FARRAH 8-TAMOU Bench MERRIN, REYNOLDS, WATMOUGH WOODS

Since then Cordner is out, and T Rex is likely to come in. Now I'm hearing there is a push for Hopoate for Topou.
I will be stunned if Reynolds and Hodkinson will be elevated to NSW halves. Still think the Roosters halves will be there.

I actually hope they do get dropped because that means we'll most likely win next win. I'm expecting a HUGE bounce back in form after the shit we served up. Also I'm expecting them both to fire up if they do get dropped.
