the rules. or lack of them leads to grey areas , the nrl wants knife edge results on a false basis.
This competition IS manufactured to some degree,
and one result of that is success is punished.

Mind you , cant blame the nrl exclusively, because league has been its own worst enemy for the last 40 years at least .

It flat out just doesn't happen. When we win a penalty count it's always 7-6 or 9-8. The 5-2 count in the GF is as good as it gets. That was a thing of rare beauty.

Out of ALL the stats I came up with in my penalties research, this was the most remarkable one:

No. of penalty counts won by 3 or more between 2008-2013

        Sharks ---------------------47
        Rabbitohs-------------------37
        Dragons---------------------35
        Broncos---------------------35
        Raiders----------------------32
        Tigers-----------------------30
        Eels--------------------------28
        Cowboys---------------------27
        Storm------------------------26
        Titans------------------------25
        Warriors---------------------21
        Panthers---------------------19
        Bulldogs---------------------19
        Knights-----------------------18
        Sea Eagles-------------------15
        ...
        ...
        ...
        Roosters----------------------7

That's just ****ing special. I don't see how anyone can look at that and say that the refs AREN'T biased against us.
TS, there's nothing to see here. Don't you know these stats are all the work of conspiracy theorists dressed up as facts? (insert sarcasm icon which I cannot find!)

          Post of the year.

You want to do something with that stat, it's a beauty.

Look the games I watch the roosters do lie all over the tackled players to slow down the play the ball.

It was particularly bad in 2012.

I think most times we do deserve to be behind on the penalty counts.
The game is won and lost at the play the ball.
How many tries are scored on the fourth and fifth tackle when attacking the try line?
            Nearly all.
We just don't see the long range tries of yester year as much.

trewhella - it's the penalties we don't receive for similar infringements which I think gets on most peoples' goat. A different standard or threshold is applied to the chooks as opposed to all other teams - it is blatantly unfair, yet we get accused of ill discipline and unfortunately that tag has stuck and is being played out in the media. I don't know how we can get around that. I feel like we're going to be persecuted forever. Even when we win the penalty count 5 - 2 in the GF (not including Manly's penalty try) everyone says we have the refs in our pocket, but the stats herein prove otherwise. It needs to be put out there far and wide that we don't "get" any penalties.

exactly and more to the point.its the ones we don't get.
i seriously think its a socio demographic hangup about the eastern suburbs that plays a large part with the biased officialdom and media,in saying so i also do realise many fans don't live in the eastern suburbs.

We could have received a penalty in almost every tackle against the dogs.

How the hell Klemmer was not charged by the review commitee? He ws lifting his knee in 90% of his hitups and then kicked out on purpose to to injure another player.

                          Unbelievable.

I thought Klemer would be charged for sure.

If that was JWH it's a minimum 3 weeks.

                          Fact.

Full page ad in the paper might be an idea
Not sure how much it would cost though?

surely you cant kickout at a defending player ....to make it worse klein was right behind the defending ruck ....if that wasn't a send off then the bar has been set regarding illegal play .....despite all the bulls..t behind lifting tackles true dirty infringements go unpunished......r69
