If it were a match race for actual halfback related skills, Morty (who takes after his uncle) would beat Mitchell (who takes after his father...great footballer but not a halfbacks arse) hands down.
And to quell any nonsense, Sonny Bill won last year, along with Maloney.SUPER DRAGON!

Good luck to Morts whatever decision he makes.
He hasn't complained once about playing time or even playing for the Jets.
Fact is that he isn't a good enough half or dummy half to warrant a place in our team.Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

Last week was a perfect opportunity to make a statement, but he gave long, hard hospital passes and hogged the ball looking for the tryline instead of support.
He needs to improve his short kicking game and his short passing game with soft hands like Haynes last night.

I am not for one second saying that Pearce isn't a very good footballer, he is. He's a great runner and a hard tackler...like his father. He would make an excellent centre.
Daniel Mortimer is no more a hooker than John Simon or Nat Wood were but they were put in that position for much the same reason as Morty.SUPER DRAGON!

I beg to differ ...Pearce is a good team player and that was evedent when he was missing for the Cowboys game. His coaches have a lot to blame if you saw Pearce a lot when he was a kid and in our U20's you wouldve seen a massive runner of the ball some games he looked like Johns and others like Freddy ...the whole thing with Stuart,Anderson got him in too early.Freddy did alright with him wheres as Smith centered our game around Carney.I think Robbo has done good with Pearce but he is either a slow learner or reluctant to improve ... generally I think that he thinks too much about the next play too much you can see that and occasionally stuffs up .Cronk came into his own about 27 years of age.Other than that Cronk was just a link man get the ball pass the ball and get the forwards going.
If Pearce gets his head 100% right he will be good he started the season unreal when every one else was missing then went off the rails.
Pearce has been in two GF's so not a bad run so far .BUT and a big But if one more slip up then move him on if it means disruption to the team. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

I know both Mortimer and Pearce are never going to be Fittler, who like Johns, Langer and Steve Mortimer all saw the football like a chess match, being able to plan two and three moves ahead. Maloney has some ability to plan so when he gets the chance he can set up plays.
Pearce is a lot like Brett Finch, when he's not the main playmaker, like at Melbourne, he was able to do what he was capable of and help the team. Pearce is the same, his game improved when Maloney fired up this year. If Maloney can remain in form then Pearce won't struggle. This is why I will continue to advocate a swapping of positions, if they will insist on putting Pearce in the halves then it should be at 5/8th so he can do his own thing.
Again, just my opinion.SUPER DRAGON!
