Server Issues?

This happens everyday. I am under the impression that the admin no longer has any interest in this forum. This forum is dead anyway. The whole forum is basically John talking to himself.

I have the same server problems as detailed above by others...on my home desktop.
But hey, the forum is free.
I'm very grateful to those who own and run the site for providing it...at a cost and lot of work for them.

I went through a stage where I just couldn't get on during the day. I doubt that was anything other than server overload.

Although I did misplace my password for 3 weeks.

All my problems started with the server transfer.
Whenever I tried to connect to The Chookpen it came back with "Cannot find …….." .
It happened 99 times out of 100 and even if it did connect it would drop out almost at once so I didn't even have a chance to log on.
No one could give me an answer as to why. I played around with settings & different browsers to no avail.
Searching through forums, concerning connection problems, I stumbled on someone in the USA that was experiencing the same sort of problem. A user on the forum suggested that they change the DNS numbers in their network settings (I am using Mac).
My isp is Internode out of Brisbane so I copied the two DNS numbers (for later use should it all go wrong) and used Googles advertised DNS numbers. Problem solved. As easy as changing two sets of numbers. I might point out that you must use both sets of numbers in conjunction.

The other problem that I have noticed with the site is that when you go to reply to a post, & want to quote a user, it sometimes won't let you quote. Very random and bizarre.

Doesn't open far more often than it does. Surely there's someone among the family who knows what to do to fix it.

Is the server located in USA? (Lansing?)
If so, where was it before?

It seems to be related to traffic. Straight after games it almost always won't let you get on. Whereas at other times (when there is less traffic) you can get on ok. Of course, that means that you can't get on when you would most like to.

I tried posting on a different thread but somehow my settings won't let me post. If this gets uploaded, he problem may be solved. anyone else experiencing this problem?

I have no problems if I use my VPN, but when it's direct from my crappy ISP to this site it's not too good.
