  • Fletch & Hindy get the Super Saturday red button.

Anyone with Foxtel & watches the Matty Johns show will know how bloody funny these 2 are & I for one can't wait for this call..

First the good folks at Fox Sports brought us the “Press Red for Ed” button to listen to one-eyed Collingwood president Eddie McGuire calling Magpies games.

Now NRL cult figures Bryan Fletcher and Nathan Hindmarsh are set to follow suit, with the “Press Red for Hindy and Fletch” button to be launched on Super Saturday next weekend.

The new kings of NRL banter will be let loose on the Roosters v Knights match at Allianz Stadium, going head-to-head with the experienced commentary duo of Warren Smith and Greg Alexander.

“Every minute of Rugby League I have ever played has been working towards this moment,” Hindmarsh said.

Fletcher then had the last word, saying: “When I signed with Fox Sports they told me it was to take over from Warren (Smith), so it’s not really a surprise to me. I’ll be the main caller on Saturday, they won’t let old fumbles Hindmarsh call the play by play. I’ll let him say something, occasionally, if I need to cough or go to the toilet.”

Like beauty, humour is in the eye of the beholder.

Last season it was probably my favourite show.

This season, with the attempt to turn it into The Footy Show, it is almost unbearable.

It won't stop because the ratings are up but it really is cringeworthy sometimes. Luckily I record it and am able to fast forward the Hindy/Fletch stuff.

I like them. I find Fletch to be really quite funny, particularly in comparison to the other 'funny' NRL personalities like Beau Ryan and Joel Caine.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

Terrible, these 2 aren't funny. It feels like they are trying way too hard most of the time.

I enjoy small doses of the Fletch/Hindy combo of a Monday night. It's a bit of a chuckle to end the first day of a working week.

Not sure how I'd enjoy their commentary during a game, but hey, can it be any worse than the irrelevant drivvle commentating we get from Rabs and Gould?? Fletch/Hindy sure as shyte would be a darn sight funnier at least.

Will be at the game next Sat so won't be able to listen to it at the time, but hopfully they do it for some future games of a Sat.

I mean let's face it, it's not as if the current commentators have set the bar very high.

Excellent point made NC!! Can't stand listening to rabs and Gus waffle on! When you listen to them 10 or more years ago they were great. The past 5 years or so have been painful to listen to! Gus used to give great insight into games and without bias back in the day. Shame he has lost that. Back in the day Rabs used to get the players names right, and didn't carry on with so much irrelevant crap.
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

                  Here's looking at you, kid.

Fletch is a legend! I fully agree with you Lydon on why do footy shows turn into comedy crap. They just lose the plot, and there is nowhere near enough focus on what is going on in the game, especially previewing the upcoming games, or reviewing the games just played, and rumors of player signings, possible coach sackings or signings etc. There are too many who are scared to put players down when they are playing $hit, or too scared to say who they think is going to win, fearing treading on someones toes or hurting someones feelings or let bias get in the way.

ben ikin is a dopey prick, but I don't mind Kent. sterlo is ok but I just don't like him because of his hatred towards the Roosters.

The afl kicks the NRL's ar$e in many departments, with footy shows certainly being one of them!

The Matty Johns show is meant to be light entertainment. I enjoy it for what it is.

The Sterlo show is for those who want to watch the experts analysis of games played/games coming up.

360 is just well... Paul Kent making up stories for an hour. The format of 360 is great and the coaches they continually draw is unparalleled by any other footy related show on air... But they've got a massive host issue.

So... you dislike sterlo because he hates the roosters but Kent the prick who writes anti roosters articles every chance he gets, you don't mind?

I don't mind fletch and Hindy. I'm going to flick over and take a listen. If there a third as funny as Roy and HG when they did origin it will be a good laugh

I don't find that show clever or subtle in any way. It reminds me of the American show 'Friends' of which I watched two episodes and was so sick of the contrived humour I never watched it again. Talk about seeing a joke coming - then again that's what caters to the masses.

These useless 'fuc*ers' are too interested about laughing about themselves than to realise how incompetent they actually sound.
"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".
