the best comment I have read on here in ages.

totally agree with all the points raised. made similar comments to friends that we blew at least 6 tries....the fact we are creating those opportunities is pleasing and only a matter of time before our execution catches up.

we had a slow start to the year and that was expected given our pre season, however I can see the roosters building each week and look forward to seeing them defend there title when it matters....Sept / Oct

Ive noticed Pearce has kicked a couple of 40-20 over the past few weeks, almost another one yesterday. Is this a new aspect of his game? I don't recall it ever happening before.

I want to see Pearce show more leadership, composure and verbally pull players into position. Make the right decision when in the attacking zone.

In that first half against Melbourne there were times where we were trying to score off every tackle. Pearce is supposed to be our playmaker and give the team direction. Mini is not a playmaker so his captaincy in this area is not helpful. This is where I think Pearce really lacks in his game and why he struggles in Origin and struggles when the chips are down.. Take on the same role Cooper Cronk does, pointing players around the field.

I think Pearce has so much potential but Im not sure if hes the smartest tool in the shed and if this is within his capabilities. Time will tell.

Those combinations were also valuable in a time where the half would play inside the 5/8 and pass to him. These days I see more of an importance on the dummy half and half back combination.

We started very well with great structure playing direct and that all then went out of the window with a lack of patience with the ball - started by Pearce throwing an unnecessary long ball.

Pearce is halfback and has to keep them in the structure.

Having said that, I rate him and think he will be back to his best with the rest of then in the next couple of months.

                          Interesting points, Yak.

I don't have that level of understanding of the plays. But it does seem it me that we're not controlling games as well as last season. I think we're less composed. That has a lot to do with terrible completions. But it seems to me like it also would have something to do with our halves. And that's been my view the past couple of months. I'm not listening to Phil Gould or anyone else. I'm watching the games and forming my own opinions.

Maybe there's a level of minutiae I'm missing. But that's how I'm seeing it.

                            On Gould's comments I smell a rat....
                            - Gould is the Panther's general manager
                            - Panthers are currently top of the table
                            - Panthers are a chance this year
                            - Gould knows the Panthers have to beat us to take the title so he is trying to throw as much doubts into our players minds as possible. At our best Gould knows we cannot be beaten by the Panthers

Gould has been doing the same thing for a while now, though. Not just this year. Previous years when the Panthers weren't competitive either. As someone said before, he tries too hard to be objective with us it borders on being negatively biased

Yea, I checked the Panthers and their lofty position as a workmate loves claiming his June premiership. 50% of their games played for 6 wins have been against 3 teams.

                                Titans
                                Raiders
                                Knights

They did beat the dogs 18-16 in Rd 3.
Couldn't get a try against souths
                                lost to the sharks
                                almost beat Melbourne 1pt loss
                                have had a bye

Seems they have a very nice draw compared to other sides next the dragons then the 2nd bye, then warriors in New Zealand.

Honestly I haven't watched them play much this year but looking at the fixtures I can't see them being more a premiership threat than the fact they are sitting in 1st right now.

Can they beat the top four?

                                Can they beat us?

                                Time for Act 2.
