  • Average first half. Good second half.

Minichiello was good imo, so to were SKD and RTS. Maloney also played well.

JWH and Moa led from the front as always, Friend is the best hooker in the comp. (imagine saying that 18 months ago)

Napa still lacks go forward, FPN is an absolute ponce. 4 runs for 25 metres, 15 tackles (3 missed) and he let in their first try. Fark off.

Willie Mason? I'll take Willie Meehan any day. Casty on the other hand was largely ineffetive, and Mortimer was basically useless.

    • Sam Moa was my MotM.

Morts had a couple of good touches.

I feel sorry for the guy being judged on 20 min of football every game.

I've always found he looks awkward carting the ball up. His go forward really is ineffective and its a waste of a hit-up, almost. 5.9m per run today

We miss Cordner badly on that left edge. He hits the ball up without fear, as if he WANTS to break the line, and he will take the ball 19/20.

Napa on the other hand tried hitting a hole early (2nd set i think), dropped the ball and dropped his intensity with it. Lacks punch.

          • Morts was good. Great assist when he picked the ball up at his bootlaces then drew-and-passed after a cross-field kick, as well as a few other nice plays. And the spell clearly worked - Friend was excellent when he came back on.

I mean that ploy won us a comp last year.

Pearce MoM for me too. Skidsy = legend.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

I doubt that if we were at full strength we would have done any better. It's a mind thing I feel and they just don't seem to get over it on a Saturday. If we had all the players back we'd probably be saying, we miss LOD.

a back 5 of Mini/RTS/SKD/Moga/MacDonald is a ticking time bomb, certainly a rocks or diamonds combination, could be very good or very ugly.

I find it curious that Robbo has gone with Moga who is iikely to leave the club, ahead of Langi or Rhys Martin, because there could be a decent argument made that Langi/Martin are in as good form as Moga.

                Up the middle.

This is the Chris Anderson 1 marker Roosters.
Tommy we have been defending with one marker in our own 10 metre zone all season.

                • We gotta give Napa a rest. He is obviously there for defence coz his hit ups were lumbering trundles. Yep. Lumbering, ineffective trundles.

Sam Moa is MOTM. This guy has been an unbelievable buy. Good on u fitzy.

I really believe the ice skating conditions detracted from the game. Some night games really turn to crap coz of dew etc. You can see the guys struggling to hold onto it, scared to run too hard in case the collision knocks it out.
Nothing beats day time footy for me in relation to improving the quality of play.

In saying that, it dont help when u turn up and dont respect the opposition.

                  • if only we we played deeper in attack in the ruck area and got quicker play the balls would see a real difference in completions and less errors.i am with you john corey Napa is a bit too slow for me.The standing starts from the play the balls against teams with a quick line defence or up within the 10 makes us easy pickings.not hard to coach against yet hard for teams to maintain it against us for a full 80 as evident tonite and even in last years gf

At this stage of his career he is a very average first grader at best.
However he is young and he is gaining valuable first grade experience that will hopefully assist him in the future.

Lol Tommy Smith....they were sh*t in that first half...in fact if you paid for reserved tickets tonight the hotdog or pie was better value than the first half.

                            1. James Maloney - The dumbest penalty giver in the NRL, everyweek, without fail, braindead.

                            2. FPN - Best Traffic Director in the Comp, scratch
him his dick, and let the first try in, almost a second try, as the Knights player ran past him.

                            3. Mini always bad option pass, after he has done something good, mistakes a first year player does, not a veteran.

                            4. Still the worst ball handling teanm in the comp, by a country mile..

                            5. A team of mostly kid backs, with a veteran forward pack, are putting over all our so called superstars, god help us. We are just making up the numbers in this comp.
Lol......again the first half was crap but I think we find it hard to play the lessor teams in the comp ....we lack intensity in these sort of games. I am not suggesting we will win it but I think we are in this comp up to our eyeballs at the moment.

I agree.....Napa resembles MLK in attack with the mistakes just less penalties.

I didn't know what the crowd was but I don't think we got 10K tonight.

Pearce, SKD and Moa were our best....young Meehan the Monster impressed me. Some flashes of brilliance from RTS and Mini was quite solid and that tackle on Uate was one of his best ever. Maloney for a small man defended strongly....and Liu was good too.

I forgot to mention Friend...always first class.

                              • Mini's tackle on Uate was a game saver, I'm sure of it. Uate scores and Newcastle kick on.

The junior forwards stood up tonight, Liu, Meehan and Napa (did he even go off?)

When Pearce is given a small role to play, running and passing, he excels. That's why we saw Maloney acting as halfback a lot of the time.

We saw, yet again, what Daniel Mortimer can do in a short space of time. He tackled well, passed well and fed the pass for Sheck's second try.

Imagine him doing that for 40 or 80 minutes.
