People at the club like Robbo, Peter O'Sullivan and others, who, whether you like to believe it or not, actually do know more about footy than us, have obviously decided that Tau Tau is not worth hanging onto for the money that he would demand. Whether that's due to his ability, his level of commitment, his mental state, his injury history, we really don't know. If they thought he was worth the coin that he's going to be offered then they'd keep him. We don't lose players we want.

Our recruitment and retention, as well as releasing of certain players, has been amazing since Robbo has been in charge. We've had some awesome big name signings, we've re signed most of the younger guys that we want to keep, and we let go of a bunch of players that at the time a lot of people didn't agree with. I think it all worked out pretty well right? I personally have a lot of faith in what the they're doing so I'm happy to 'Trust in Trent' as they say.

The young one to really keep an eye on is Lachlan Matrell. I'm not a you tube-over-hype-the youngsters type of person, but if everything stays on course Lachlan will be the next young one to hit the scene big time, as in Inglis and Folau style. He turns 17 next week, I think, which means he is now allowed to play 20's. Whether or not he will, I'm not sure, I know they wont be rushing him though. I do know that they wont be letting him go

Also, Peter O'Sullivan has just come back from England. Not empty handed.

Of course we can all have opinions on who the club should keep and so on, but enjoy the ride and have faith, we're in good hands.
    Well said mate.

Sorry but I have been around RL long enough and seen enough to know there are plenty of them in the u20s. There are definitely some good tough kids with or without the ability that have huge tickers and I hope in reality they outnumber the others.
Its not about talent, its not about size, I will give anyone credit who tries hard from U6s to the NRL.

Depression is not about being a peaheart on the field, often its very much the reverse.

Just ask people involved in the NSW cup, when some of these supposed stars get thrown there to toughen up many don't cope.

I do personally know people involved with our juniors and the NSW Cup and they don't refer to anyone as a pea heart or any other cheap shot. If they did, they'd soon be out of a job as duty of care is involved, especially dealing with young men who are under intense pressure to satisfy some hard to please selfish fans who probably have never even laced on a boot, but will sit in the stands swilling beer and mocking these youngsters, often within earshot of their friends and family. This comment isn't directed at you Kingbilly but those who are doing this in full view of media setting up their equipment for the main game. It's embarrassing to be an Easts fan sometimes for these reasons and that is a painful comment for me to make. Enjoy the week off everybody but I'm sure there will be some on here who will find a reason to complain about our performance against the bye as well..

          GO LACHLAN MATRELL!
Rob I got tipped about Latrell Mitchell by a mate Alan Miller who's involved with the junior reps and the wraps where justified after watching the SG Ball GF he killed them and it's quite scary how good this kid will end up being I've heard OSullivan rate him as good as Inglis and Folau time will tell but looks a class act.

Quick question - now that we have released Morts, would we use the extra money available to offer it to Moga to try and keep him?

Personally I am a Moga fan and would love for him to stay....

I can't see Moga getting a regular spot in first grade next year.

Moga is gone at the end of the year.
BTW - we are one or two injuries away from disaster. We have no halves back up now Morts is gone. Should've kept him till the end of the year. SBW can't play in the halves for the rest of the season. keep everything crossed we don't have any injuries.

I could see RTS moved to 5/8 if the worst case scenario occurred mate.

He has a decent pass on him from what I've seen of late as he's moving into the middle in attack.

Do you know where to? Sharks or Raiders?

I think under a full pre-season with no injuries Moga will do well but depends on which team he is. I think at the Sharks he wont have much of an effect with sub par players around him.

From what I know of the salary cap, wouldn't someone have to be promoted to the top squad of 25 to replace Mortein for this season???

As for Moga for next season, what has he shown to be rewarded with a pay increase???

                          • Moga is always going to be one of those "also starring" players that people remember. I have fond memories of Greg Bourke and Julien Troy, it doesn't mean that they will have remembrances in the same breath as Dave Brown or Harry Messenger.

Easts have plenty of depth mate @9 Friend, Aubbo, LE'strange, Kara @7 pearce, Maloney, Taumata, @6 Maloney, Langi, Sbw, Friend, Aubbo. We should be ok if we lose our starting players.
