  • Respectful Thread Please: What Should happen with Mini in 2015?

    Guys,
This poll is just to collect the sentiment within our walls of what Mini should do.

I urge everyone to be respectful with comments and do not make this a Mini war. I am more interested in the stats as everyone has expressed their comments numerous times, so please vote.

    Cheers

    He should retire gracefully.

Retirement, permanent position as club captain. To be used around junior leagues to show what club loyalty looks like, where chasing money by hopping from club to club isn't the most important thing in the game.

It should not be a sentimental decision by the club or mini. In the end, it should be robbo's call.

I would like to see him play one more season but moved over to the wing to let RTS have a full time job at fullback - he is definitely still holding his own out there and he has not become a liability (not yet anyway) so I reckon those legs still have one more season in them.

That being said, by him remaining in the team, it could take up a spot from one of our young emerging superstars, leaving the door open for them to get poached....

What ever decision he makes should be respected by us all - that includes people who don't want him to keep playing, if he happens to re-sign.

He is a legend of the club and deserves our utmost support whatever he decides.

As far as I am concerned Mini is a club legend as is Robbo, whatever they decide is best for the club moving forward then I will fully support them.

Spot on Milanja. I would love to see him heavily involved with the club in an off field position/s. Possible positions such as, an assistant coach, assistant trainer, mentor, part of PR, marketing and promotions. He is a club legend and would be great in any of those roles with the club!

For me, I keep thinking about that saying; better to go out a season early, than a season too late!
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

                Here's looking at you, kid.

Whether he wants to play in Europe that would be his call.
I think he should retire from the NRL. I understand Robbo wanting him for this year as he had a good end to last year and we still lack depth in the backline. Next year is a different story with Fergo coming and Macdonald looking the goods. But if they sign him for one year on minimal salary just to cover any potential early season injuries and then retire gracefully half way through the year similar to how Piggy finished then I would have no issue. A lot of that would also depend on whether SKD is retained.

Mini is a legend of the club and anyone who believes certain supporters don't feel the same just because they have an opinion on him hanging around too long should get a rocket up them. If Mini wants another year but Robbo says No then he fits in the same shoes.

Hang up the boots with distinction.

The long serving players allowance($$) being applied towards Mini will come in good use from 2015 onward. We have several players that fall into that criteria.

IMO, given Mini's excellent fitness levels & post match career (schoolkids fitness clinics) he would make the perfect on-field water boy/trainer ala Fitzy.

Whatever happens, it needs to give him the respect he deserves. He was down, out and finished when he got injured in 2006, he was basically told not to come back...by his doctors. The poor bastard has more metal in his back than I have in my car but he kept turning up. But it's time to retire and be exalted as a loyal clubman.

                          Retire.

But stay on at the club in some form of coaching role.
