Im still to work out how good a player SKD is, or ever will be.

What I do know is that if it was SKD that was in Maubs position the other night, trying to score off that last play, they would never have held him up. He always finds a way to get it down.

Would seem strange to let him go next year with only Under 20's players for depth.

He'd be on quite a bit but I'd be surprised if we're pushing the cap with SBW moving on next year.

No doubt mate, I'd put SKiD behind those blokes too in a perfect world.

But Fergo still has to be registered and then has to earn his spot in the side by busting his arse all pre season and proving he's worth the investment. All before staying clean off the field. I reckon he will.

Then we need no injuries which won't happen.

Then Mini has to retire and RTS move to FB. Which looks likely to happen.

Then we are still short a winger. Surely SKiD has proven his worth over a bunch of kids???

I mean what happens if the dream happens and we win it again this year and SKiD in that time scores his 100th try for the club???

        It's possible.

I have no problems if he's released. If the coach has other ideas I trust his judgement. I don't see cap wise he'd be a major stumbling block. No Mini and $BW and Fergo would surely be a heavily weighted contract on incentives, possibly even back ended to hopefully ensure his performance more long term.

Just IMO I wouldn't sacrifice him just yet considering Mini will likely go, Fergos not set in stone as yet, we've let Moga go and SKiD still has a year to run on his contract.

Either way I see the logic.

My main point is he may be our weaker outside back but 92 tries in 160 odd games, test footy and 2 GFs for a win in 8 years is no where near as bad as it's made out to be. And there is still enough time to add to those numbers this season.

I get that SKD tries hard and is a good bloke and all that, but do you really think he is a strong point in our backline? The bloke has been going backwards ever since Carney was here. He hasn't improved. He doesn't deserve a pay-rise which no doubt he is seeking. He is by far the weakest link in our backline despite being one of our greatest try scorers.
I will never say that wasn't a try. The stills were posted the day after the GF. The ball clearly travels backwards.

So if Mini retires and Fergo arrives who takes SKiDs spot???

And who do we have for depth???

You do realise I'm only talking next season where SKiD is still under contract???

I am not talking personality or good blokes or pay rises or weakest links.

I'm talking a centre/winger with more than 160 games under his belt, 92 tries in that time, for one club, having played 9 tests, with 2 GF appearances for 1 win and a chance to do it again this season. All this in 8 seasons.

Where do you find someone of that calibre for less money???

I may be wrong, he may be released before his contract expires, but so far Trenticles has rewarded Mini and Maubs and FPN and Friendly with new contracts, even though I've heard why a reserve grader or ten are better value. I get the feeling our coach rolls differently to what many on this site do.

Either way, whatever's best for the club.

Providing between now and next season, if Fergo stays out of trouble, he will be registered next season, no doubt, but with strict conditions, along the lines of one more failing, and his rugby league career is over.

Like at the hundredth minute of a sudden death final against the tigers?

Or near the end of a grand final against Manly to back up and score the go ahead try?

Mate if we are within 10 metres of their try line and we need a try to win the game, SKD is the very bloke I would want to have his hands on the ball.

                    I am with you Chook.

Off topic, specialist left centre with a left arm carry and a right arm fend scores that try last week. As much as I love Aubs.

If the rumour is true it probably has a lot to do with his salary. $350K-$400K to stand on the wing?
Macdonald's first two games on the wing were probably better than Toup's first two games for us. He is a Toup's clone and with one on each side we just need to find someone who can land a freaken bomb in the in-goal to give them a chance.
If the Fergo deal is done then SKD is an expensive surplus IMO.
If we are within 10 metres of their try line and we need a try to win the game I would prefer Fergo to SKD. Plus the opportunities he can generate in the other 90M.

Except that SKD is a right side centre. You might be confusing him for Jennings who plays on the left.

I would be surprised if that happened. SKD is flavour of the month.
