  • Robbo on the Sunday Footy Show

Pretty sure I just saw an add announcing that he'll be a guest on the show tomorrow.

    Can anyone confirm?

    Yep he will be.

They had Moa on last week, he got the second highest score ever on Freddy's pass off.

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully he'll call it like it is.

Didnt really give too much away, said morts left due to salary cap issue and that it is the second time he has asked for more game time and the opportunity was at the titans.

        # Felt that we are more scrutinised by the refs, but discipline is our own fault, most disappointed about how the team is reacting to penalties compared to last year.

        # Hardest thing about back2back was players with different goals on their mind whether it is retirement, state or country representation or a young player coming through, the toughest thing is getting everyone aiming for the same goal.

        # Put alot of our performance on sonny, saying when he plays well, so does the team, and we owe him the right sendoff.

Basic interview and didnt go into things too much, hope he is keeping some aces up his sleeve. Penrith game should be a good indication on how the team reacts after the getaway, and then we play knights, dragons, titans. Should be a decent run.

One thing he did seem confident of was that we have a very good chance of winning the competition. It didn't seem like he was just saying that to say the right thing, or what the fans want to hear, but it appeared as if he generally believes we can.

It appears as if we are flying under the radar a touch, particulalry within the media. I guess this is due to Manly winning almost every showcase match of the round each week (Friday night), the Dogs with their defence and origin halves, and Penrith surprising a few and becoming a real genuine threat. In addition, SBW not setting up 5 tries a week like the media thinks he should be doing means the media probably don't see the necessity of focussing on us.

If the belief is truly there, we have good luck with injuires and if we can get a run going, all the ingredients are in place to almost become 'untouchable' come finals.

I don't think the Roosters look anything like a premiership winning side at the moment. HOWEVER, the talent is certainly there to win it.

If Robbo can get their heads screwed back on and we are in a Top 4 position come finals time, we are still a great chance.

              Chooses his words carefully.
I notice he doesn't ever say we are playing badly or poorly, rather "we aren't where we want to be".

His quote from the Footy Show "we are well positioned on the ladder, but we aren't where we want to be"

                Good summery Milanja

That third paragraph really captures the difficulty in going b2b. The other point not mentioned is the ever so small loss of appetite for going all the way once it has already been achieved. Coach probably couldn't say that though.

One more thing Robbo touched on is how he and other coaches I assume...chunk the season up into distinct sections for their planning and goals.

                Interesting.

SBW, as good as he is, just has to temper his miracle passes, when we are in front, because it only takes a shift in possession, for a team to claw its way back, soo in summary, if they are not needed, he needs to concentrate at breaking the line, and hopefully passing normally to a player in support, and no low percentage passes.

Flying under the radar is hard to keep, when bookmakers keep saying most of the money is going for the roosters at the moment.

Yeah thats true. As loyal as I am to the roosters, who in their right mind would put money on us to win the comp, based on current form haha

They don't look the goods for a title defense mate.My heart hopes we will feature in Sept but the reality is they would want to improve a hell of a lot from where we are now to even make the top 4.This game against the panthers will be a good test for the boys.

And/or getting a quick play the ball (the one percenters). SBW has one of the quickest play the balls in the comp which last year was getting us good roll-ons.
