  • Pearce - Good news :P

ROOSTERS halfback Mitchell Pearce has put a booze ban on himself under new coach Brian Smith and is looking as sharp as the year he bolted into the NSW Origin side. Pearce has been off the grog since returning to pre-season on November 2 - a good thing, if you ask us, after he landed himself in a couple of tricky situations last season.

Whether blokes like Pearce and Friend get their shit together remains to be seen but at least this year we will have some grown ups in charge of the squad which means a better chance of these kids pulling their heads in.

    We can only hope.

I think his old man readying him for Smiths no tolerence discipline may have something to do with this.
Whatever the true reason is,its good to see he is at least thinking a bit more maturely...

          Is it good?

I mean it's obvious our club has gone from some major negative influences to some major positive ones... if he had these positive ones from the start he would've never had to of put this 'booze ban' on himself.

Going from one extreme of drinking every week (not saying he did this but plenty do) to not drinking at all shouldn't be the option... surely we should just be educating them to drink smartly.

Either way it's good to see his head is in the right place although he's hardly one you can criticise for not putting in on game day.

Now if we can keep those Foran idiots away from him, he may just settle yet.

I remember in 2007 Nate was on a self imposed ban......that worked well !!

I will praise him when we see results as it's tokenism at this point.

                  Yeah, what you said R_6.

Why can't he just moderate his drinking? Have one or two over a night and stop? Being extreme one way can sometimes lead to being extreme in the opposite way.

If he could do that he wouldn't be a fall down drunk.

You know my thoughts my friend, Melon is spot on

the kid is very easily led, hence he will never be a captain
