Mark Murray was sacked after we lost to Cronulla at home on a Saturday (I think) night in 1994. Graham Murray's cards were marked after a loss to Cronulla. Ricky Stuart the same. In recent times, Brian Smith knew the writing was on the wall when his Easts side lost to Cronulla at night at the SFS.

I have a theory that whenever Easts lose to Cronulla at home, Nick starts to make alternate plans.

We'll be right this year. I think Manly will win it but we'll get our shit together in time to pose a serious threat. Looking forward to having Jennings and Topou back though.

Our bench is very weak. Every time we replace Moa and JWH our momentum drops away. I think Napa has gone backwards since his debut year, his form seemed to drop off after the NRL outlawed the Shoulder charge, I think we all got excited by his brutal defence but forgot that run metres, offloads and tackle busts are also an important statistic for an emerging forward. Casty on the other hand is not up to NRL standard and doesn't look like getting there. The answer is to promote young Evans to the bench for the remainder of the year and run with Aubs, FPN, Lui and a Napa/Evans bench.

on current form there is no way you could offer Maloney an extension beyond the end of 2015.
Maloney is gone and he knows it. Has done for a while now. It may explain how he has played this season.

It would be more than extremely surprised if Robbo was in the same boat.

            How is Maloney gone?

He set up 3 tries in last years GF, including Jennings' clincher, and played out of his skin.

One bad season (where we are still coming 5th mind you), and all of a sudden he is 'gone'??

If Smith lasted 2 years finishing in the bottom 8 then im sure as hell Maloney might survive one below average season.

It's a 1 day ban for refusing to remove his excessively large signature pics after days & days of asking.

Don't worry he'll be back this time tomorrow.

Maloney surprised me last year, I didn't think he was that good.

I always thought he was a short term solution. That said I will always respect him for what he did for us last year.

Pearce too. I have defended him saying he is still young and needs time but he has to show more now.

                    JT,
How do you know he is gone?
How much of his problem is his injury?

Appreciate any insights you can share.

in regards Maloney, its obvious he will be here in 2015 as he is under contract, the question is whether his performances between now and next april/may when decisions for 2016 are looming large is good enough to earn another contract.

on his performances this year there is no way he earns another contract.

player re-signings will be a major taking point for us next season, if we get to May next year and any of the likes of JWH/Guerra/FPN/Tupou/Maloney/SKD are not locked up long term, there would have to be major questions asked whether they have a future at the club.

Interesting that Hastings is getting a run in the NSW Cup this week.

Might be the beginning of his blooding into first grade.

Have you seen much of him this year?

I feel that of those off contract, Tupou, JWH and Guerra are musts for re-signing as they all bring something to the team which is very hard to replace. Maloney is also important in terms of goal-kicking, as we currently have no ready made reacents or that. Can Hastings kick?

Btw, I'm liking SKD so far this year and apart from potential salary cap issues there is no real reason to let him go. But I believe he would be easier to replace then guerra, jwh and Toups

not sure if its a case of the players not being fit enough or not having the hunger/desire to repeat the triumph of last season, that extra gear we had last season is no where to be seen.

there is no sign that the 2014 version of the Roosters will be able to flick the switch to perform anything close to the Roosters version 2013.

obviously Jennings will return for Maubs and perhaps Evans for Casty, but is that really going to spark any real form turnaround.
Unless the refereeing changes we won't be going anywhere.
...can't see the refereeing of us ever changing....so basically we're stuffed.

Only way I can see us doing any good from next season onward is to build a team of giant, aggressive, "knock em down, drag em out" type players and have them bash the opposition out of matches...a la SOO this season.
Can't be penalised any more than we are now...so we might as well get our money's worth.

                                BBs team for next season:

                                11. Napa
                                12. Meehan
                                13. JWH
                                10. Evans
                                8. Moa
