  • Key players told to shape up or ship out...

OK, here I go again with another story from deep inside Roosters territory... Yes, yes, yes... Some of you will tell me to go fark myself, others will resoundingly believe me... You can be the judge of that!

Three weeks ago one of our most key playmaking, playmakerish, playmaker players was summonsed into the Chairman's office... He was in there for an hour, and he was told that he needs to shape up or ship out...

Strips weren't torn off the key player in question... It was a businesslike conversation in which the boss told the player that he needs to step up, or he will not factor in our plans in coming seasons...

Word has reached the ear of many Easts people in high places, that the off-field party culture has gone too far in recent times, and that key "playing group personnel" are not taking their jobs seriously!

Tonight and recent weeks - since the meeting took place in fact - provide a general indication that the key player in question himself is not expecting a long-term career at Bondi Junction.

Which is a shame but that's life. He has been given more than half a chance over the years... At least we got one premiership out of him but the chances of getting two are much akin to Kerry Packer selling Channel 9 to Alan Bond TWICE!

Benji got a get out clause at St George he's going to use?

Going to reunite with Sheensy here?

Highly unlikely. The Benji part no. But you never know about the coach's tenure here.

How many years is that? Two years to go from what I can remember but I might be wrong. I agree he'll be here next year.

On current form (or virtually all of 2014 form) management will be considering its options.

If true and if it is Pearce, he bloody well needs such strong messaging from Management.

Our forwards are doing their job but he has not developed 5th tackle options in the time he has been at Easts. WTF does he do at training? Sorry but I'm still angry from the weekend and haven't had the site open too vent!!!!

Maloney gets the Ian Baker-Finch Award for 2014.

He has been hopeless this year.

Is this aimed at Pearce or Maloney?
If the dressing down came after the Cronulla game I would expect it was Maloney as he has been terrible this year.
Pearce is the brown eyed boy, he won't be going anywhere.

hey Gman, just made the same comment on another thread, was a little surprised to see him in NSW cup, I thought this far into the season they would just let him settle in NYC and hopefully lead them to a title, I wonder if Robbo is finally getting frustrated with our kicking game and last tackle options.

I can not recall Pearce ever winning a game for us on his own like Tyrone Roberts did on Friday night .
