  • I'm Done with the NRL

As the thread title says, no longer will I watch or support the National Rugby League competition as a whole.

I will always be a Roosters fan, and I'll continue to watch and support the boys every week; wearing my heart on my sleeve in the process as I always have. I'll continue to be a member every year, buy merchandise, make the trip down south to every GF. My love for the Roosters won't change because RW&B blood will always run through my veins.

But the NRL? They can get ****ed! I have no intention of ever watching another game of the NRL not involving the Roosters. The competition no longer has my support or viewership.

    Why?

Because quite simply I've seen far too much overwhelming evidence these past 18 months to suggest that the referees are blatant cheats. I almost gave the NRL away after the 2010 GF when we were cheated by Tony Archer. But these past 18 months have really taken the cake. Tonight, Gavin Badger was exposed as a cheat. Against Manly earlier this year, Ben Cummins was exposed as a blatant cheat with that 11-2 penalty count. And there are so many more examples.

In 2013, I believe our boys put in the most remarkable single season effort you'll ever see. To overcome the barrage of penalties we copped whilst receiving so few ourselves must surely rank as one of the all-time great efforts. But this year we simply haven't been able to maintain the rage against a tidal wave of biased refereeing.

I'm disappointed that we've only shown mere glimpses of our 2013 form. But that doesn't change the fact that we are being shafted week after week by a competition which is being officiated by blatantly biased and, as such, corrupt officials. Even our very own remarkably pragmatic coach basically accused the officials of bias tonight. And if Robbo felt the need to say what he did then there's clearly merit to the argument that the officials are biased against us.

Why do we always concede so many penalties every week? And more importantly, why do we receive so few ourselves? Week after week after week after week. And given this, why should I support a competition that does nothing to improve the performance of officialdom? A competition that allows the refereeing fraternity to be a law unto themselves, free to let their own prejudice and bias greatly affect the outcome of so many of our games.

I've revealed an avalanche of the most damning statistics to prove the bias that exists against our club. A bias that in turn favours clubs like South Sydney. But if that isn't enough then just consider this:

So far in 2014 we have received fewer than 5 penalties a game on 8 occasions.

Souths on the other hand have received fewer than 5 penalties a game on zero occasions this year.

How is that not blatant bias?. But no-one in the media will mention these startling facts. No-one will ask why a team with such a dominant forward pack receives a staggeringly low number of penalties whilst the referees pet in South Sydney receive an exorbitant amount every week.

We as fans are being served shit every week. And the NRL expects us to eat it. It's a multi-billion dollar sport and this is the best they can do when it comes to officiating. We are supposed to cop this shit week after week, listen to idiots in the media criticise us for giving away so many penalties without looking at the facts, and yet after it all we're still supposed to love the NRL.

Well **** THE NRL. I will no longer watch the dreadfully officiated shit they dish up to us fans every ****ing week; especially us Roosters fans. I normally watch about 4 or 5 games a week. But now I'll only ever watch the Roosters. This great club represents a huge part of me, of who I am. And I can't emphasise enough that my love for the mighty Eastern Suburbs Roosters will never die. The officials can't change that. But tonight they did officially kill my support for the NRL.

Rant over. Easts 'till I Die.

      Just on the officiating tonight...

Can anyone provide me with a logical reason for disallowing Maloney's try?

Aside from the ball being stripped, it went backwards between his legs!

And this on top of last weeks shocker where Pearce clearly stripped the ball backwards towards our own ****ing try line!

I'm certain those ****s just sit up there thinking "I reckon we can get away with disallowing this one... **** the Roosters".

The logical reasoning is Luke Patten just flat out isn't a good video ref.

There's those who understand the laws of relativity and can explain why even though the ball was propelled backwards it may have still floated forwards (allowed in the rule book, so long as the ball is passed or knocked backwards by a player).

Then there's those with eyes who can just flat out see the ball was propelled backwards

Then there's those who just don't get it and would've just ruled inconclusive evidence, ref's on field decision stands.

And then there's Luke ****ing Patten.

I have been that way for a few years now as in just watching Roosters games and not much else. I just find NRL a boring game these days. It's been that way since the era of the wrestle began. Still love watching the Roosters but couldn't give two hoots about most other games.

I'm not ashamed to say I cried with frustration and I have not done that over a game since the 2004 grand final.

It was blatant on Friday night.

I feel the same way. I elect to watch some NRL games outside of the Roosters but is is no longer a habit to watch; rather I use discretion.

I have my phone app to watch the Roosters. Will not invest $100 per month on Fox. They buggered the NRL. I am not about to reward them with my $.

I felt disgusted and am sick of complaining to the Australian apathy. Watch the press conference and watch Mini's reaction to the question about an apology from the refs. Watch him again on his latest interview on RoosterTV where he talks about refs needing to improve and then JWH. Worth 5 mins to watch. He is fed up as well. http://www.roosters.com.au/news/2014...will_come.html

Last Saturday night, I watched the swans for the first time in years. Piss poor sport but the refs cannot bugger it up. Even the rugby looked better.

NRL, you need to focus resources to this thread!

I managed to get a new TV antennae set up & great reception for the game………and we know how much I enjoyed it.

                    Gutted.
                    Injuries, ordinary form, dud reffing….

Will take a miracle to back up the title from here.

easts only for a long time, gave foxtel the heave ho, wont buy tickets to other games ietests etc.. im very disappointed easts didn't blow up big time after that game which may have cost us the season? 5the old sewer league lives on to the detriment of the nrl, all those refs who worked for Murdoch or played in super league teams need to be given the big broom asap, 5the st3ench from the newscorp influence is still putrid.

To be honest I actually thought the 2nd try that Maloney had disallowed was worse than the 1st When he scored I cheered and said to my Daughter There is no way they can take this one from us

I haven't watched any games since the Roosters game and I am the same will only watch Roosters games from now on.
Ch9 has screwed the NRL more than fox.

In all seriousness I have believed it to be a bit of my one eyed view and incompetence on behalf of the officials but after the naughts game I just don't know and frankly I just don't care anymore

You are not one eyed and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Other young girls I work with who follow Wests and Souths respectively were disgusted in how we were treated and both told me they switched off the game too. I've only watched Roosters games this year, am unsubscribing from the NRL newsletter and won't read any more sports pages of any newspaper. I stopped listening to breakfast radio back in 2009 after the Nate Myles incident and stopped listening to radio broadcasts of matches after our home game against Melbourne last year. I turned that off in the 68th minute and have not switched it back on since. I will continue to sit in Bay 14 with my friends but I can't tolerate this disfunctionality anymore. If you are continually served really bad food in a restaurant, do you keep going back hoping the food will suddenly and miraculously get better?

which is why I enjoy watching footy on pirate streams & twitter results before delayed telecasts.
