Punting has nothing to do with loyalty or support. I like betting only on footy, I watch alot of it and its more about seeing how a team is trending and betting on it. I also feel a game comes around every few months where they get the odds wrong and I like to have a go at those games from a footy judgement point of view.

I think Easts are the favourites for Sat night butnot 3.40 favourites, regardless of betting I am 40yrs in at Easts and will be there till the end.

Its hard to say what makes a supporter or what the rules are, for me its a club membership!

I have 100 on roosters/hawks double and on roosters/swans. Doesn't mean I can't back against them whenever I like though. It does apparently make me an awful supporter though.

I cannot believe the simpletons on here. If you bet AGAINST the Roosters, in order to win money, not lose it, that means you HOPE they lose, so you can WIN money. Surely no Roosters fan would deliberately put money on us to lose. Do they go to games saying yippee we won? I just lost money!

If some of you are so desperate to make extra cash, get a job..I'm with Thirteen on this one..

No amount of money (at least at the amount I can afford, and I assume the amount most of us on this forum can afford) is going to make me feel better after a Chooks loss.

Hawks/chooks is 24-1@$50 and swans/chooks is 28-1@$50.

Just because anybody backs against their team does not mean you don't want them to win. Parramatta won a total of about 10 games in 2yrs, realism tells you they would of had no chance to beat the majority of teams in that time, but you still want your team to win. so why would you bet on them?


Its like footy tipping, if you bet with your heart, you are throwing away your entry money, I'd guess the majority who are against betting against the chooks, are also ones who don't tip souths, dogs, manly and Melbourne because they are rivals of the chooks or cap cheats, wouldn't be going to well in tipping this year if thats the case.

The guy dropped the 10k because he thinks we will win the comp, he didnt place the bet because he supports Easts..... he might not even be an Easts fan!!!

Does this clear it up lol placing a bet and supporting a team have nothing to do with one another

Mini... probably better than Quinlan (is that how you spell it?)

Nene... promising but definitely not up there with Morris/Nightingale (both have international experience and Morris is in form)

Jenning... coming back from an injury and maybe not in form like Duges is.

SKD... has actually had an effing good year IMO (not just by SKD standards). I reckon he has it all over Beale.

RTS... yeah... better than Nightingale I'd say. Not Morris.

IMO the Dragons have some truckin' good halves on their day. So do we if they pull their fingers out.

Forwards... I'll quit rambling and get to it. We probably have the edge? Moa, JWH, Friend, Cordner, FPN and Guarra (the new starting QLD back rower). All have rep experience and IMO if we win it'll be in the forwards.

Yes the Dragons have Merrin (who is playing injured) and SBW is out but it SHOULDN'T matter. If our forwards get the job done this we should get the 2 points.

In my opinion if our forwards hold the ball, focus on hard runs and don't out-smart themselves then we'll score tries. Widdop has a sneaky boot so the Dragons will get a LOT of repeat sets... we'll have to deal with that in defence by being well disciplined. Basically their only weapon is a Widdop 4th tackle kick... you can bet that Duges, Morris and Nightingale will be chasing. If we can diffuse that shit then we can win.

IMO we deserve to be favourites because we're the better team. That doesn't mean this will be easy or that we WILL win. But IMO if we get the basics right and don't confuse ourselves/penalise ourselves out of the game then we can win.

Discipline and defence are the key!!! We have the forwards to win this even without SBW (although our bench is suss IMO and could cost us).

Back roosters NOW to win premiership. The odds will only get shorter from here. $6 is luxury get on it. The only genuine contenders are us and Manly. We will peak when it counts whereas Manly have probably peaked already.
