If some of you are so desperate to make extra cash, get a job..I'm with Thirteen on this one..
For the record, I don't gamble, except maybe the odd lottery ticket. The post was intened to poke a bit of fun at the rubbish our team cops from the officials most weeks, especially against much lower ranked sides.

Does this clear it up lol placing a bet and supporting a team have nothing to do with one another

AND no one makes a bet to feel better in case their team looses that nuts lol

G'day fellas, been a while, hope you're well. A few oxygen thief posts in this thread eh?

Agreed SC. Maybe he has backed several teams going for good coin and was laying off on the Chooks at overs. Maybe he'd backed the Eags for the MP and was reinvesting some of this weeks payout. Who knows..I punt and punt a lot. I have done for more than 30 years. No idea how much I've punted but it would be seven figures easily. I'm ok with that. I have a high turnover and I'm not ahead by any means but I enjoy it and I don't throw it away. I did when I was younger but for the last 20 years I just look for overs. If you've done the homework, looked at the form, the field or the opposition, the conditions and weighed it all up then you have your own price in mind. If you see anything that is over the odds that you have it at then it's a good bet. I bet against the Chooks more often then not. Now before the drama queens get on the soapbox let me explain why.

Like most of you I have been a Chooks fan all my life. My first GF was 42 years ago (fk you manly, way to make an 8 year old cry lol). I've watched our team week in and week out, keep up with the news off the field, injuries, personal problems, contract negotiations and offers etc. I know this team. I know what to expect from them each week and I often recognise a danger game and have more than a gut feel when we are likely to lose a game that the bookies have us at short odds to win. If the odds are what I consider overs hell yeah I'll back the opposition. With the start and off the stick. Do I want the opposition to win? Hell no. I want Easts to win every game from now until I die.

I backed the dragoons with +10.5 at evens midweek. Had a decent lash, it's overs so why not? We aren't going well by our standards obviously but hopefully tonight we can start heading in the right direction. I won't give a crap about my bet until we're well ahead with 10 to go. Punting and supporting a team are separate things and if you're a smart punter they're totally unrelated. Here endeth the book. Get out there tonight guys, make an effort and make it loud. Go Easts.

          Praise the lord lol

I agree with u mate most punters would bet more against then for their team, u watch ur team week in week out and you know how they are going.
I only bet on the footy myself for fun, I usually go first try scorer or a multy usually a tenner every few weeks. I took Friend tonight last try @23-1.

I'm not. Any rooster supporter who back the dragons to win tonight got exactly what they deserve.

I have lost enough, but going with the theme of the thread it seemed appropriate.

They might have got some cash. They were giving 10.5 start from memory.

I did say if they backed them to win.

Back roosters NOW to win premiership. The odds will only get shorter from here. $6 is luxury get on it. The only genuine contenders are us and Manly. We will peak when it counts whereas Manly have probably peaked already.
Far be it from me to beat my own drum....so to speak. But I would like to point out that since I made this post we are undefeated and have shortened from $6 to $3.75 favourites to win the comp.

                                Just sayin....
