  • its amazing we have a top 2 ranked attack given how clunky we look at times

its crazy to think mid way through round 21 we are the leading the comp in terms of points scored.

we have the lowest completion rate in the comp, we rarely have more than 50% possession in a match, and for long stretches in matches our attack is clunky with passes hitting the ground or being thrown behind players.

as a team we would be a frightening prospect if we could ever become a polished/ruthless attacking machine.

That's the message I have been taking out of our season, fletch.
We are in the top 4 and playing waaaay below our potential.

Given a better run with injuries (and refereeing) we just might give this thing a shake.

We rewrote the rules last season - penalties, no repeat sets etc

On Fox Gasnier just said we can win the comp if we are still not 100%.

      I will go further.

We will win the comp if we can get to 70%.

the biggest positive our of last night, is the energy returned to our attack, there were offloads with Pearce/Maloney probing on each side of the ruck, it wasn't perfect by any means but at least we got away from 5 simple hit ups then a bomb.

I thought there were times we got back to our grinding style from last season. Small patches but it was definitely there.

          Very important win for mine.

I enjoyed seeing Jimmy run at the line. After the two poor passes in the first half I think he was given the instructions to run first and pass second.

It's the best way to rebuild a halves game if he's low on confidence.

I also heard that we have the best attack in the oppositions 20. 8 plays per try which is excellent. And necessary given how few opportunities we receive.

Goes to show how weak the competition is. Which is why it's such a missed opportunity if we don't win the thing.

apart from Manly the comp is rubbish this season, us included, if Manly stay healthy its hard to see them getting beaten.

Yeah but anything can happen in a sudden death Prelim or GF.

A red hot Warriors team or a fit and firing Rabbits/Storm are more than capable of knocking anyone off on their day.

I personally don't think the Maloney criticism is warranted.

                    He always puts in.

It may not always work out, but he always has a go.

Pearce gets under my skin, but Maloney's a different story.

And for what it's worth I think last night's win was very constructive.

Our second half was close to the best we've defended all year.

Hopefully with Toups back (when?) and working with Jennings (so badly missed), we can give it a late season shake.

Looks like Warriors game for Toups and SBW.

That's funny because how you see Maloney is exactly how I see Pearce.

Certainly has his limitations but busts a gut every game.

I went to a dinner a couple of weeks back and Robbo spoke. He said that other clubs have peaked. He said we haven't peaked (thanks, Sherlock) but we are really fresh and are ready to roll. He said they feel like round 15 not 19. I was so excited I wanted a pair of boots!

                            Then the Newcastle game happened.....
