Sure microphone distance can be a problem but they can always fix it while editing unless the microphone is just a prop and they are actually using the camera microphone which normally is inadequate for interviews.

Same frustrating thing in the post match press conference - the journos questions can never be heard loudly. The only way to figure it out is by the reply given

This, you never hear the question asked. If the players are asked the same thing over and over is it any wonder they reply with the same answers?

Agree with the OP and others here. It is annoying trying to figure out the question from the answer. Surely this sort of thing can be fixed easily?
