  • whats the verdict on Moa starting from the bench

what did everyone think about Robbo's experiment to start Moa on the bench?

I thought it worked fairly well, the tandem of Moa/Evans made sure the platform was laid early in the 2nd half when we normally struggle a bit.

I'm not sure we can afford to play Moa on the bench against sides like Souths/Manly/Cowboys though, as I'm not sure a JWH/Napa starting front row will be able to hold their own against the better forward packs.

Tonight wasn't the greatest example as Moa probably played his worst game for us, but I doubt it was because he was on the bench.

I'm a fan of it though, however I disagree about JWH and Naps not being able to handle the bigger forward packs. Jared's our best prop and Napa is a great defender who is solid with the ball too.

The problem is we are lacking that punch that LOD gave us last year.

That's probably why Robbo is trying to use JWH and Moa at different times.

Damn pity we couldn't afford LOD this year.

I think Evans proved tonight he deserves a first grade spot every week. I also thought issac liu was strong tonight as usual, he will be invaluable for us in the next few years I feel.

Does anyone in the know on here know why Meehan isn't seeing more first grade?

Who do you replace Meehan for? Its a tough selection.

However Robbo said on Triple M he's very close to earning another cap, i reckon we might see him on an extended bench against the Tigpies. Unsure he'll play again in first grade this year unless injury strikes, as it's extremely important we win the remaining games.

Unless he is carrying an injiry, stupid idea, the bloke is far and away our best forward.

If he is fit, the only reason i see for this move is Robbo knows he cannot have JWH and Moa off at the same time.

Whe Friend is back, i would love to see Meehan and Evans come in for Stranger/Napa or FPN

Not a fan. It was Sam's worst game since joining us and while I'm not blaming that on him starting from the bench, I don't think Napa offers the same starting.

I'd start Evans if he persists with Sam off the bench.

I can understand the reasoning. When JWH & Moa come off around the 25th minute we struggle until they come back around the 55 minute mark. Trying to separate them was worth a try but if Evans & Napa can carry the load for the time that they are off it would be better to keep JWH & Moa together

Napa struggles up front, he can't make the necessary metres required from a starting prop. But on the flip side Evans was great.

I think the idea is good its just a matter of sorting out what the best combo is.
Remember this are going to be a bit different in Jakes absence. The Stranger made 20 tackles last night as opposed to Jakes usual gazillion. That workload was largely taken up by JWH and AG. Moa wasn't himself last night and I doubt that he will have that sort of game again.
Kane must stay in as he is the only forward who made over 10 meters per run. If he keeps running like that he will be a starting prop with either JWH or SM, as our best props split for max effect.

Moa has had two unfortunate games with his handling, he cant catch a cold at the moment, not sure why this has suddenly come apon him, but he needs to fix it. Its no good running into the opposition at 100 miles an hour, only to lose the ball.

I called for Evans to get a run, and he didn't let me down, Napa is ineffective, does not bend the line, and his defence has no sting in it, Lui was terrible in defence lastnight, was totally clueless lastnight as he was the last player two titans players ran past to score, and his workload is not up to firstgrade requirements at the moment, if you see a replay of the game take special notice of his input.

If Jenko does have rib cartlidge damage, that is very painful, at least two weeks on the sideline, then maybe be able to play with a pain killing injection. Unfortunately most of SKD's game lastnight was of rocks quality, no diamonds on display, but that's just SKD.

IN reality terms, we are still miles away from the top sides, struggling to beat the Titans, does not enthuse too much confidence, but a special mention to Daniel Mortimer, he was almost the MOM player in a beaten side, if he wasent saving tries, with last ditch defence, he was putting up kicks leading to tries, and was a terrier all over the field, well done mate.

We were shit, but a worse Titans side than the one that ran out last night beat the team that everyone is jizzing about at the moment a few Monday nights ago...
