Thanks Horry and Samwise for posting this thread with links. I urge all supporters to listen to this and absorb the key messages.
I could listen to Trent all day. Articulate, intelligent and a real footy thinker. There should be a role post coaching as an administrator or commentator.
paraphrasing his thoughts re penalty counts
"history says there is not a remedy" "5 coaches" "don't wish to complain ... but it is extraordinary...years of negative penalty counts" "we come up against the cleanest teams every week" "interesting to hear Bellamy's comments last week 7-0 against in 2nd half...but that is our norm...we have won 3 out of 22 games" "we get 2,3,4 penalties every week with a powerful team"Written and published on behalf of the Liberal Party, Queensland

Is Trent wearing a tin hat as well? Well, is he?
So now over to you, my learned pen members who like to mockingly call us "conspiracy theorists".
Come out and say what you must surely believe, that Coach Robinson is a pathetic, whining, deluded fool. Just like me.

The leading teams ensure their defensive line is set and prefer to give away penalties than risk a line-break. There is no doubt this is an intentional tactic, and no coincidence that the worst offenders of recent time (Manly/Storm/Roosters) are also the most successful.
Nobody knows for certain why the opposition don't give away penalties against us "baddies". My best guess is this is an inadvertent side-effect of having cheat sheets. I agree that refs should not be allowed to head into a game with any pre-judgement by way of a cheat-sheet.
Robbo, Bellamy, etc timing their whinge before the semis is no coincidence either. Our loss against the knights actually put a smile on my face as I knew Robbo would take a leaf out of the greatest ref manipulators of all time. Robbo will continue to give away penalties all the way into the finals knowing full well it is within his control.

The Roosters have received 35 less penalties than Melbourne. Clearly, the "perfect teams" that Robbo says play us every week are less so when they play Melbourne.
I think that you are doing Robbo an injustice when you imply that he has said these things to "manipulate" the referees. You are closer to the mark when you talk about the cheat-sheets. These are nothing more than tools to institutionalise bias.
Here's a thought. Why doesn't the NRL publish these sheets? Then we can all see the errors our players are prone to make and coaches can correct them. For example:
"Sam Burgess - warn him if he sexually assaults opposition players in tackles."
"JWH - send off if he uses bad language."
That kind of thing...

You would think the refs and their "coach", Tony Archer the Dragons Churchill Medallist from 2010, might have noticed by now that Greg Inglis makes a habit of ground humping and crotch nuzzling every time he is tackled after a kick return and, if that fails to earn a piggy back penalty downfield, then strolls a few metres downfield for the play the ball to take both markers "out of play" - they are then penalized if they get in his way.
This is one of Souffs' most important plays and it works most times. Inglis alone receives more penalties doing this per match than our entire team receives all match.

Another quality post by you by the way.
To dice, you appear to subscribe to the theory that the Roosters deliberately give away penalties and that the cheat sheets explain the lopsided penalty counts against the Roosters. What happens to those "cheat sheets" when the teams that concede so few against the Roosters go on to concede more against other sides?"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."
