To dice, you appear to subscribe to the theory that the Roosters deliberately give away penalties and that the cheat sheets explain the lopsided penalty counts against the Roosters. What happens to those "cheat sheets" when the teams that concede so few against the Roosters go on to concede more against other sides?

Maybe when they are over scrutinising us they are not watching the opposition as heavily mate???

We know "tip sheets" exist, that's been confirmed.

We know our club has been on the end of some dodgy penalty stats for at least the last 15 years, some posters have provided some very telling numbers recently to back that.

IMO the issue has always been the fact we have made 6 GFs in the last 14 seasons.

So while we cop the raw end of the pineapple more often than not we have the ability to overcome that issue and succeed when it counts.

I have always agreed with the coach. It happens, it's no use complaining about it, no one other than us fans give a fark. Even the blokes on the radio were laughing about our penalty issues, while acknowledging its fact.

I hope bOracle and Keggsy return. Some funny shit between those two carnts.

Many in this thread are being a little p-noid about the discussions around this issue. Even Keggsy agreed the stats don't lie, we cop it royally penalty wise. It's about how we react as a team on the field and a club off it.

Do we complain like other coaches or do we get on with it???

I reckon our coach is doing it the right way personally.

Mostly agree that there's no use the coach complaining about it stsae but then bellyache cops the pineapple for one week and gets a ref dropped. Also agree that it's better the players just get on with it and control what they can control.

What I don't understand is Roosters supporters here on the 'pen and otherwise not seeing that there's a problem and thinking that those who do are conspiracy theorists. What I don't understand is JWH's sin-binning in the knoughts game for swearing when so many other players do the same thing and are simply told to watch themselves by the same ref.

LR, I was suggesting that the refs focus on cheat-sheets is inadvertently causing them to go too easy on the "good" guys. That is the only theory part of it. Maybe someone more qualified could explain the psychology of it.


No doubt at all that teams perform statistical analysis to work out the risk of conceding points. The better the defensive team the more they would be prepared to concede a penalty to ensure the defensive line is set. I am actually surprised that there is even any debate about this.

Everyone sees it differently, it would be too vanilla if we all agreed.

I honestly believe from what I've seen and heard, all Easts fans agree on the fact we have been sausaged for years when it comes to the penalty differentials.

I reckon it's just some believe it's an orchestrated campaign (conspiracy) and others believe it's more subconscious than intentional (the DiceMan theory).

Either way I'm proud that the club thru the last 14 seasons we have been able to defy those stats and make 6 GFs all the while not complaining just doing our business our way and mostly having success at it.

Your point sounds logical though I have only heard it mentioned in Roosters games that the Roosters deliberately concede penalties to allow a defensive line reset. I used to watch almost every other game in times past but this year I only catch the first Friday night game and during all that time I've only ever heard the commentators mention it ONCE that the sea egulls do the same thing. If lies are repeated often enough ...

@stsea, I can only imagine what it would be like being a vermin supporter since '71 with so many hopes raised and dashed. I'd had to have developed a blacker sense of humour by now.
