Why should that change anything... whether he's earning 1 million a year or $10 an hour at Mcdonalds he's still 19 and still none the wiser. Gotta be young and stupid to be old and wise.

The fact is he had a lot more to lose than most 19 year olds on $10 an hour at Maccas.

$500K over 3 years in fact.

It doesn't change what happened, but perhaps Jake should have thought more about whether a few nights hard on the grog was going to be worth losing that amount of moula.

I realise Jake is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it doesn't take too many brains to figure out that he was on a bloody good wicket for his age and experience.

Very true. Unfortunately some people can't see this.

How many other NRL players were charged 3 times in the one year? (admittedly the last one was dropped)

On christmas eve I had a long chat with a prominent player manager. He told me that nine out of every ten young players were haveing problems coping with the expectations and restrictions placed on them by clubs and the NRL.
Maybe the NRL shouldn't let the younger players into the FG comp until they are 20 yoa and allow them to make there way in life like all other teenagers???

Good luck in getting all 16 NRL coaches to agree to follow that rule. You could perhaps put a limit on how many games a season teens could play, but during the season when injuries and suspensions mean a playing squad is drained, a young bloke should not be denied an opportunity to make his debut because of age alone.

To be honest, these blokes don't suddenly mature overnight when they turn 20.

The individual coaches need to take more responsiblity for deciding whether or not a young player is physically and mentally ready to play NRL footy. Some are, many aren't.

But that has its critics as well - remember when Brian Smith decided not to blood Jarryd Hayne because he thought he wasn't ready (and he was probably right). Some people still criticise him for that.

Youhg boy, not the appreciation for the dollars he was paid plus the HUGE public responsibility that he holds. Give him a chance - let him work with the club - lets support him through all of this. He has a lot to offer = his youth is largely against him.
