My personal opinion is that I feel squeamish at the thought of him facing the likes of Manly, Souths or the Rorting Storm in pressure cooker finals. Losing the amount of blood that he did has taken a huge toll on his body and endurance levels and no-one has to be a medical genius to realise this.
May I say that it's the friends and rellos role to be overly cautious and concerned for a young mans welfare. I dig that it's natural.
But I'm guessing our hooker is a tough little mo-Fo who won't want to go out so meekly. There are many documented cases in all sports where participants have literally defied all logic and advice and ripped the plaster off and played in a big game or event. One of the most hardcore I recall is Chris Mortimer at Penwiff who post surgery in front of his teammates pulled a pair of pliers out and removed a pin from a broken hand I believe to play in a GF.
These days and with such an unusual injury I'm sure the medicos will have the final say.
But IF it's more mental than physical as Lydon has said, and the docs say he's physically able to play, I believe Friendly will return at some point this season ready to play.
May make a great story for the grand kids.
The FlogPen .
You know it makes sense.

Jake came out of hospital today
He had 3 blood transfusions
He wants to play as soon as possible
He is yet to receive any type of medical clearance to play again as the incident occurred at 3am on Sunday morning and the surgery was a 12pm on Sunday."Those who care about you can hear you, even when you are quiet" - Steve Maraboli

Jake was sent home today after 3 blood transfusions and no-one expects to see him back on the field in the near future, nor should they, as it was a very serious situation. I hate to burst the bubble of those of us, including myself, who want to badly see him play in the coming finals

RWB,
Appreciate your updates. I know from your posts over a long time that you are sincere in your actions.
It would seem to me that Jake had surgery to stop the bleed. This needs to fully heal before he could even consider getting back on the field and would need surgeon sign off. Otherwise he risks ending back in hospital.
Optimistically, I'm still hoping for a speedy recovery to help our chances but not at the expense of his full recovery.Written and published on behalf of the Liberal Party, Queensland

Yeah - RWB, I think you need to step back a bit. No one has anything but well-wishes for Jake. We all want him well first, then back on the field.
And of course we want to think he'll be back this year - he's our best player. Why is that a problem? You can bet the wants to be back this year too.Last edited by Salvatori Grubber; 09-03-2014, 10:10 AM.Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...
