Unfortunately the speedy pick ups from dummy half to get the opposition backtracking, the very skillful kicking game and extremely busy defensive work of Friendy cannot be replaced by any of the options we've got. Sadly I see Friend first and daylight second followed by a distant Le Strange, but it'll have to do.

We'll miss Friend's kicking game as much as anything.

Both in attack and coming out of our own end his kicking game has become an excellent asset.

But Maubs/Stranger can still do a job.

Before his injury it looked like we were going to trample our way to the title. Now we're just on a par with Souffs and a couple of others; but nonetheless still in with a chance no doubt.

As the saying goes... it's often the fittest team that goes on to the win title. With the Friend injury we've forgotten that we may have also lost FPN for the season.

What a catastrophic game! How things can change so quickly.

Maubs will play hooker with another utility of the bench.

          Chook.

If L'Estrange is fit to play do you think he will start though and maubs off the bench? If not Maubs will definitely start but who will fill that utility role??

I'd start Maubs and see how that plays out. The bloke is a consummate footballer and will give that role the best he's got.

Who would be the utility? Dunno, as we'd be taking a risk player either L'Estrange coming back from a knee injury or the untried Hastings or Dureau. Glad I don't have to make the decision to be honest.

              Chook.

I reckon roobo will go with aubs but will put evans on the bench to combat the souths pack.

Whoever they choose, one this is for sure. Our 6 and 7 need to go to up to another level to cover the Jake loss, SBW would also need to improve considerably in attack for us to be any chance of retaining our title.

What and go in with no utility and expect Maubs to play 80min in the middle against a massive pack? Cant see that happening.

Jake's grubber is going to be sorely missed.

Let's hope Pearce's kick for Guerra on Saturday wasn't a one night only affair.

Robbo has previously said he doesn't want Maubs to try and play 80 minutes as a hooker, its too much for someone not experienced in the role, so that means either Jackson Hastings or L'Estrange will play on Thursday to give Maubs a spell, which way Robbo goes will be determined by whether L'Estrange is right to go or not.

Maubs has done a pretty good job when playing at dummy half given his limited training in the position, the one thing he needs to be careful of is his flat passes from dummy half, he runs the gauntlet too many times, he will pinged by the pricks in pink if he is not careful.

Maubs has not only filled that role admirably the past 6 months

He has improved his grubber & passing game as well

His tackle ability is what gives him the advantage over the others & he scores tries

I dont care who comes on to give him the rest

I'd be happy if Maubs was hooker, with Horrie jr or maybe Kara on the bench. If Heath is recovered, then he and Maubs (don't mind who starts)

Can someone please tell my why sign an established albeit Super League Half that can play 6,7 or 9 who was one of the better halves in Super League before he was injured and not play him. Is Dureau playing that badly, I am asking as I don't know.
