I was talking to a bloke at half time that was using Sports Ears.

When Souffs got the penalty just before half time for our chasers being offside, apparently one of the refs shouted:

"Late tackle on Maloney..." and the other ref said: "I'm on it...".

Yet, the penalty then went to Souffs.

    Jokers.

After the Inglis break we got penalised for being offside. We had worked very hard to be onside. It was obvious that the penalty was because they expected us to be offside.

in the first half the vermin were offside. I kid you not, the reef took a step forward to put them onside. It's the penalties we don't get. .....

Speaking of refs, when inglis stops the Maloney try, it seems to me that he slams his bicep directly into Maloney's head (praised by Gould?!?).

        Shouldn't that be a penalty?

It should have been on report, at the very least, imo.

I couldn't believe the number of knock ons allowed to continue for souffs or the endless forward passes from dummy half let alone the continual offside of the entire souffs backline, with the latitude souffs got they should have beaten us by 100! but guess what refs its all on video now weve seen your best shots we know your cheating ways and unlike the diving team easts played against tonight the roosters will always hold the highest moral ground we play it hard and fair!

I listen to the game with Sports Ears and the number of times that one ref (I suspect the senior one) overrules the others on decisions that should go our way is alarming. One ref will yell penalty to us, only to be ignored by the other one who obviously has control.

From my experience the 'junior/assistant refs' are generally attempting to give us a fair go, it's just the senior refs either overrule or ignore them.

And can I mention that the refs' obsession with the attacking player making sure he plays the ball with his foot means the idiot is obviously not concentrating on what the defensive players are up to. He's too busy watching the attacking player's foot and is not bothered about anything else!

its a radio frequency channel that allows you to hear the officials communications during the match, both spectators and coaching staff has access to the channel.

Robbo has previously mentioned how often other teams receive warnings for offences, yet we get penalised.

I believe SBW was specifically pinged for being offside (though I could be wrong) and I watched very closely and as you say JT, the Roosters worked hard to get back the 10 and come off their line quickly to snuff out the space out wide, all to no avail, penalty to the vermin of course.

I think it's in their tip sheet that if the opposition make a break to automatically ping us. It happens every time.

It has to be said though that Auva'a was rightly sin binned for laying on Pearce for ages when we made a break. Credit to the ref for the right call there.

After last night, over the course of the season, Souffs officially finished with 200 penalties... we finished on 118/119. I believe such a vast difference can only be down to referee expectations.

Could of been worse, like the Broncos incident last week.

RWB, I'd prefer to know what's going on than just blindly watch the game not knowing the background to what's happening.

Sometimes listen to the refs actually helps understand why penalties are given to either side, eg, you can hear them telling a player he's offside only to have the player ignore him. Quite frankly some players (Easts and non-Easts) get what they deserve on some occasions.

It's also good to hear their views when they send tries upstairs as to why they do/don't think it's a try.

I actually feel bereft without them at games now if it runs out of batteries.

While I don't always like what I hear - I'd rather listen to it than not. Far prefer it to radio or TV commentary, espec Channel 9.
