  • are we any hope of challenging the grading of Napa's shoulder charge

I wonder if a panel of ex-players might show a bit of sympathy towards Napa missing an entire finals series for a shoulder charge that didn't do any real damage.

I have no doubt the club will take it to the judiciary, we don't have anything to lose.

fingers crossed Garlick isn't on the panel that night

It was a very soft hit. The issue is the loading.

What will he get with a downgrade? Probably still two weeks (still better than 3 obviously).

Finals games should carrier a heavier weighting IMO.

if they can get it reduced to a grade 1, he would miss 2 weeks.

We will challenge and SHOULD win.

Surely ex-players would be mortified at the thought of rubbing a guy out for an entire finals series for that?

Still, it's all Napa's fault. Twice in 5 minutes... he's crazier than Morley and LOD ever were.

'Crazy' players are no good to us...boot him back to the lower grades until he learns to tackle properly and not cost us a finals series.
We would've been better off investing the time in Evans or Meehan.

Steve Matais shoulder charge should be used as a benchmark, he has more loading than a council worker on weekends

That's the stupid thing with this whole judiciary, because Matai's shoulder charger was not sited we can't use it in defence of Napa's. How retarded is that. Two similar incidents, but because one didn't warrant a charge it can't be used in defence of one that did.

                Chook.

Having seen it again it was such an innocuous shoulder charge. Silly, but innocuous.

It only warranted attention because Souffs players were instructed to lie down and get us in trouble with the judiciary. It's quite despicable.

At worst he should have received a grade 1 charge.

If Sammy B does that to Jared, he gets up, plays on and the incident doesn't rate a mention. So frustrating.

With Cranky out it's obvious Napalm was instructed to do a job on Burgess & the pack

Our best teams always included an intimidator(s) , last years team was no exception
Last night Kane Evans had his full kit & was in the warm up
Robbo rolled the dice with Napa knowing that risk, we now have Evans ready to rock & roll while Sam Burgess will be in the embryonic position sucking his thumb right now
You'd assume Robbo with his genteel, articulate manner be matter of fact in terms of how aggression is executed through tackle technique but I'm sure he would not be unhappy with Napalm's behaviour

There really wasnt that much in it apart from it was a bit of a cheap shot on Sutton that being the manner of how he was being held up in the tackle and was pretty much defenceless This is why i think they have gone hard on Napa

What a farcical outcome...3 weeks for something that should not have even been a penalty.

I detest the enforced softness encroaching a once great game.

A real knock for the young kid too at finals time when i felt he had come of age the last few games.

                          Mattai's had arm in it.
Napa is just a moronic nutjob. To do what he did shows an intelligence so low that its double of Suttons.

A Josh Massoud Tellucrap article this morning stated "from sources inside the club" (sounds like in the Wrestling how they used to describe people as, "from parts unknown") that they would challenge the severity based on Napa not making contact with Sutton's head.

                            http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/spo...-1227049551074

                            So it looks like:
                            1. Napa was only charged with Sutton's shoulder charge
                            2. From the clip on the Tellcrap, it seems to support the arguement of not making contact with Sutton's head (hard to miss - should get a merit award)

                            The article also stated
                            1. Easts will get a Roosterdome home game, but may miss out later in the finals if they play "a big Sydney club" (whatever that means)

Personally, I'd cop the 1 week for Guerra

There is nothing to loose in challenging the Napa incident (which was so dumb it's incredible to watch).
A week for the incident and a week for the stupidity should be fair.
Obviously take the week on Aidan and welcome him back in the GF qualifier.

We get a home game next week which is well deserved. I love how the article says in round terms, should we play Souths later in the finals series it will be at Homebush.
Sounds like the NRL marketing team how their finals predicter already running hot.
Surely a game 'later in the finals' would be at SFS as the twenty away supporters for Manly would refuse to travel that far west.
