Does he still get the arse at the end of next season? He is almost back to 2013 form and is one of the most reliable goal kickers in the NRL. I don't think Hastings kicks goals (I could be wrong), so if he goes, who will? I just think talk of punting him is a little premature.

Who the hell is saying he's going...then again I don't know his contract but as far as I am concerned, he's playing awesome at this time. No way he would be on the outer.

No chance he'll be getting the punt but it'll be the big question next year when his contract is up. Whether he gets re-signed or we go ahead with Hastings.

I suspect Hastings may progress into the utility role full time next year.

There were some people who wanted to drop him this season. A lot of people have speculated that he won't be offered a new contract at the end of next season. I get that Jackson Hastings is a massive talent but we will still need a goal kicker. Not an easy call for the powers that be I will admit.

I did say end of next year in my post. I know he is a walk up start to the 5/8 position next year and Hastings will give a new dimension to the attack off the bench. That said Hastings should still play a number of games in NSW cup to help him hone his craft and get some full games under his belt.

Hastings is a goal kicker, is he at Maloney's standard yet, well no, but he is pretty good.

the question about keeping Maloney for 2016 and beyond can't be a simple Maloney vs Hastings question, it goes down to the squad make up in total, we are heading for a massive salary cap squeeze heading into 2016.

the question might be who out of Maloney/JWH/Guerra/Toups/SKD are we willing to go forward without.

I see Hastings as a back up dummy half, he played very different than friend. He looked like he waits till the forwards are winning the battle, than moves fast through the ruck. I think he'll be there for 2-3 years. When Maloney retires he'll take five eight position. Maloney won't be begging for money. He looks like he wants to settle. He has family where he wants, career in media and is part of a great Roosters era.

Maloney will go no where anytime soon

I will say it now, he will be at the club as long as Robbo is.

Agree, Maloney will get another 2 years whilst Hastings grows and matures as a player. I don't think they will do another Pearce at such a young age.

That's a big call mun. The club will have a big decision to make in a few years time IF Hastings comes up in leaps and bounds.

I keep hearing about how good Hastings is? Has there actually been enough evidence of this yet? Id be hesitant to include Holden cup form. Did he play well in his 2 games for Newtown?

I know there is great pedigree there but the kid has a long way to go before taking over from Maloney. I for one am a big fan of Maloney.

                        Premature, and absolutely crazy.

Kicks goals well, makes breaks, scores tries, does deft little kicks into the in-goal for Jennings and co to score tries...and his defence is also good for a not-so-tall man.

I saw him kill it in one of the NSW Cup games.

If we let him go another club would snap him up and turn us into a laughing stock.

In a recent Newtown game he came on when they were behind 28-0. And they went on to win 30-28. I would say he went ok.
