  • Friend/FPN injury update

straight from the clubs official website

    Jake Friend

Friend has this week returned to light training, operating on a tailored workload away from the NRL Squad following the dummy-half's Haemothorax suffered in Round 25.

Friend will continue to be monitored on a daily basis with a return to full training and play date still both yet to be confirmed.

    Frank-Paul Nuuausala

Nuuausala suffered a mid-foot sprain in the side's Round 25 win over the Melbourne Storm and has since been working on a tailored training program away from the NRL Squad.

Having responded well so far to treatment, it is still expected that Nuuausala will be available for selection in Week 2 of the 2014 NRL Finals Series.

16/17 days is still plenty of time for an athlete as elite as Friendy to get back up to speed.

We'll see him in the Prelim... only he might play < 50 minutes, which is fine given the way Aubo has performed in the no.9.

I am not 100% sure - but based on watching the games all year, Friendy is a ****ing hard hitting nugget. He just stops and drops any player that runs at him and that is obviously a massive benefit for our team... But i think that side of him, that hard hitting, no holds barred style of Footy is what lead to his injury... blunt force trauma to the chest.

To build on that, I don't think I have seen him wear much in the way of chest protection (those fancy black man bra's with padding) - I might be completely wrong, but could he benefit from wearing something like that, in hope that it will reduce the trauma (even slightly) to his chest - or is it like putting a bandaid over a severed limb?

I think we will see Jake play this weekend personally. Same as FPN

There's no way Friend will be back, considering he was in ICU and had an operation and blood transfusions.

FPN is a different story, I think he may be back this week.

I would love it if he is back. But if given the choice of having a fitter Friend next week or even the week after compared to risking him this weekend, I would wait till next weekend.

Especially since we get a second bite at the cherry if we lose.

I actually think Liu will start at lock. He is finding form at the right time.

Don't be surprised if Evans starts at prop with Moa coming off the bench.

We won't lose too much with Evans replacing Napa.

Sadly i cant see him getting back.

I think it will really hurt our chances in the back end in the coming games.

You can almost pinpoint where we started going to shite against the scum last Thursday - it was in about the 63rd minute when our forwards were tired and Maubs was doing a whole heap of inneffective dummy half runs. It aint his bag, it put us on the back foot and then they got the momentum

They will both be back for the next game. It means that we will be full strength apart from Napa - and hopefully Kane can fill that role in the meantime.

                        I think Evans goes OK.

May not have the intimidation but can bend the defensive line.

I'm looking forward to Liu playing more minutes.

I think lui is a excellent player. Guerra was only a excellent player a few years back, but is now way above that. I see a lot of guerra in lui. I think he will fill a back row spot once the salary cap bites, and be a top Nrl backrower
