Having said that, you are on another planet if you don't think the constant bad press played a part in the decision to bail out of Easts.
Even Noyce said: "Obviously they spoke about the player behaviour. On the field, it's been a disappointing year - off the field it's been extremely disappointing. We've just got to work harder and smarter."

Even if Myles, Mason, Friend and co had solved world hunger, cured cancer and bought peace to the middle east, they would have lost Samsung as a sponsor.
I do have some direct insight into what they are going through and it has been a combination of the global economy and the poor image of the NRL in general which has impacted the ability of the NRL clubs to get sponsors. One club has left their sponsor's name on the jersey so that "it doesn't look bad".
My original point, which I stand by, was that Samsung would have been committed elsewhere and walked away because of other factors. The bad press only looks like it was vindicated.

That's right and they reluctantly stayed on for last year after the Roosters dropped their price and managed to squeeze one more year out of them. They were not going to go round again definitely regardless of where the Roosters finished or what happened off the field. That was told to me from someone within Samsung.

Having said that, Samsung now have no presence within the premier sporting code in NSW and QLD. League has issues with off field behaviour, but in terms of popularity, the NRL is firing. I remember reading something like over Xmas day and Boxing Day the most watched program on Foxtel australia wide was one of those NRL classic matches from 1999 - coincidentally the Roosters v Penrith
But I do agree with what you say about times being tough. Again though, when announcing the loss of Samsung, Noyce did say "Of course they mentioned player behaviour"
I note the Corporate Sales Mgr's job at the Roosters is being advertised. You weren't the incumbent were you?

airlie beach is like an insular kings cross, full of drugs, sex and booze, and theres no getting away from it. its popular amongst young people and backpackers, not really the sort of place a guy trying to rebuild his reputation and responsibly consume alcohol would/should go for new years! even if he is innocent, grow a brain mate, stay home, have some mates over and keep out of the public eye for 5 minutes.
