    Garbage news.

Unless there has been a serious law broken Ffs use the newspaper space on more improtant stories-there are thousands of them.

Then again I am not surprised that something has come out, the media would of placed somebody on 24/7 Carney watch from day one.

The one thing that concerns me is now that it is headline news the 'victim' will try to get some fame and cash by shitting on Carney.

What a sad state of affairs.
Geez Mike, you normally make a bit of sense. What's happened to you?

A playful headlock? No mate, he set someone alight who then had to go to hospital

It's no problem unless "some serious laws are broken"? Are you mad?

Here is a club with that does not have a major sponsor. Why? Because the previous sponsor jumped ship on account of the club having BY FAR the worst player behaviour record in the entire NRL. Hopefully Politis and his cronies are working around the clock to acquire a new sponsor. All that "New attitude, new beginning" stuff. Who news, maybe they've actually got some interested prospects. Suffice to say Mike, this incident probably won't help get someone across the line.

Furthermore, our most significant off season signing is a guy whose record of criminal/destructive/drunken behaviour can only be described as appalling. What of all the talk of him limiting his drinking, and being so thankful to the Roosters for the opportunity, blah blah ****ing blah? Another paper reported he was at Northies with his old mate Bronx Goodwin on the weekend.

Like Jake Friend, and like a lot of the others, his brain is very small to start with. When it becomes drowned in grog, it ceases to operate. The problem is the old "1 beer's too many, but 10's not enough" syndrome. There is no off switch. They are incapable of saying "that's it, I've had a few beers, I better be responsible and go home now".

He needs to get off the drink altogether. That's his only chance

In the meantime, thanks very much Todd, you're off to a great start. And thanks for that help with the sponsors too

Fark me some people on here amaze me!

You deride the DT for spruking bullshit about our club, but are more than willing to believe and make judgements based on all that bullshit?

You'll need to harden the fark up if you ever hope to survive the coming season.

      Chook.

You are so far off the mark here ! if you actually noticed, Samsung has pulled major sponsorship from both us and the Melbourne Victory, now unless the Victory have had major player behavioral problems that the rest of the country have not heard about........why would Samsung pull their sponsorship of the victory ???

there is a little thing this year called the FIFA World Cup, of which Samsung are a Major Sponsor. Samsung were not going to sponsor us, or the Voctory in 2010, regardless if there were behavioral problems or not..

I guess news can be distorted to support arguments.

Why don't you wait for the facts to come out before you crucify the guy?

The Daily Tele jumps at an opportunity to bag our club and anyone associated with it. They did not run the story in their printed paper today. Why? This story might not have legs

Let's chill and wait until the facts come out

The story was also reported by Fairfax, The ABC, Channel 9, 7, 10 Fox and SBS.

But certainly, if it does turn out to be false, then I take back everything I've said and I apologise. But you know it won't turn out to be false

He hasn't limited his drinking, and he hasn't changed his ways. His claims of not letting the Roosters down and being grateful are bullshit.

I can understand Samsung ending their association with Melbourne Victory as they already have in place a sponsorship arrangement with Essendon AFL club which showcases their brand in Victoria.

Not sure that they have another sponsorship commitment in NSW in 2010. But they may be relying on Essendon to provide that as well as they give them Australia wide coverage.

Not that I blame them from walking away from the Roosters at all. If I were in charge of the company I'd have done the same thing, and I'm a Roosters supporter. Protecting your brand and image is paramount for a business.

Which is why I'm not hopeful of a significant major sponsor for the Roosters short term, while the few dickheads at our Club continue to ruin it for the decent individuals.

and are still sponsoring Essendon. You can be certain if we were somewhat successful on and off the field they would still be sponsoring us.

Samsung addressed the club last season after a few incidents and said any more and they would walk.. Soon afterwards we had the Nate Myles fiasco in Terrigal. That was the final straw..

Additionally if we didn't have last years string of incidents we may have attracted a major sponsor by now but we haven't. This sort of press does not help.

I missed this when responding to Mario.. Bang on about the relying on Essendon for sponsorship coverage in Victoria.. We can bury our heads in the sand all we want about but the fact is Samsung dumped us because we dragged their brand through the mud.

Samsung "Walked away" because they are pooling their dollars into teh biggest sporting event this year. They are a major sponsor at teh FIFA World Cup.

Wasn't it Samsung's intention to end their sponsorship with the Roosters at the end of 2009 anyway?

I'd like to hear the CEO of the Roosters confirm why they left, not the newspaper or dropkicks on talk back radio.

As for Carney, let's just take a few deep breaths and chill the fcuk out. Who cares if every t.v station, radio program and newspaper has reported it. It happens with every news story. They all know that the mainstream drongos and sheep in society will listen or read their stories, regardless on how stupid or fictional they are.

Non-issue. The club shouldn't even dignify this with a response. Winners get sponsors, not PR spin. Look at the Sharks, sacked their best player, among others, for a far more serious issue. Surely the sponsors should be lining up for these good guys of the NRL? **** no. Sharks are sponsorless too, even after bending over time and time again for the media hate machine. Why? Because they're equal spooners. On the other end of the spectrum, we have both Manly and Melbourne with their star players on sexual assault and somestic violence charges. Melbourne's jersey is the most expensive in the NRL. Winners get sponsors, dickheads or not. Losers don't, no matter how goodie two shoes they might be.

Like they would ever say the truth in public.. It is all spin from Noyce.. That's what he always feeds us.. Believing that it is part of some worldwide strategic change in sponsorship direction from Samsung is laughable.. Apart from the Melbourne Victory (already having a presence in Victoria with Essendon) and us, which other sporting teams worldwide have they dropped? Chelsea? no.. Essendon? no..

Early in 2009 they agreed to a 3 year deal to sponsor Palmeira's worth almost 5 million euros per year. They are also planning on pumping $20 million per season into a cricket competition in India and constructing 9 stadiums in India.

Not bad for a company pulling back sponsorship...

They have also recently approached Manchester United regarding becoming their shirt sponsor once their deal with AIG expires (end of current Premier League season). That would cost a fortune...
