I have to concur that at this point in time that is the sensible option.....

If he isnt wanted, why play games.....it makes us look more amateurish that we already appear.....and who is it really hurting....certainly not Willie.....

What has me intrigued, is that they are paying him to stay way, in effect. What have they discovered about Willie that they didn't know before he joined the Roosters? Willie's "larger than life" reputation has been well known around the NRL for a long time. (Was he recruited by Fittler despite the wishes of certain people?)

I just want to know, what's new?

While they are paying they could have kept him fit and on a very tight leash and used him if he couldn't find another club. Like someone posted earlier, either he toes the line or he gets hit with a breach then termination. If he complies, the Roosters win, if he doesn't, the Roosters win. As much money as he is burning, he is also taking up a spot in your top 25.

      So, what's new?

        Nothing's new Imadog.

The Wanka's just as big a Wanka as he was at the Dogs, if not more so, and the Roosters never change as far as purchasing overrated overpaid imports.

The Roosters got what they paid for and what they deserve. Just as they deserve to suffer now for buying the bloke in the first place.

No sympathy from me, surprise surprise.

The only person I have any empathy for is Brian Smith, who has inherited this problem, along with all the others. He deserves every cent he gets for the effort he'll have to put in to make our team in any way moderately successful.

From what I understand, Politis wanted to stack the team with "stars" to give Fittler the best possible chance at success. From what was being written at the time, Politis was very worried that Fittler was being promoted without a proper apprenticeship and didn't want to see him fail.

That is what changed, the Freddy experiment failed.

Willies arrival at the Roosters had been part of a long term plan. They took his brother on contract to play HM ( I think it was that not SGball) and he was shocking, the local clubs didn't even want him playing in their weekend sides.

Politis only has himself to blame for that.

True. All stems back to the ****-up on the Bennett signing. One long chain of **** ups off the back of one botched contract signing.

and isnt this fiasco disruptive to the club and the reputation of the clubs management? i would say so.

Wrong. A former Roosters player (who will remain nameless but joined the club at the same time as Willie) told me just recently that Fittler never wanted Willie there in the first place. It was all Politis.

Well, it still looks to me that a certain rumour going around at the beginning of last year has a lot more merit and with whats happeneing, I could almost bet it's true. Explains it all.

Are you referring to the "white candy"?
Put it this way... a leopard never changes its spots!
Layed off players who are not subjected to official (ASDA) or unofficial (in-house) testing take advantage of their predicament.

No idea what you guys are referring to specifically, but the guidelines for drug testing in the NRL are laughable.

A player can go interstate, or overseas, and not be able to be tested. To use an example, Todd Carney (theoretically) can go to Airlie Beach for 4 days, get on the rack on the first night, and come back and pass a test even if was tested immediately upon his return. A joke system that isn't really designed to catch players out. The only way to have a proper system would be if (again theoretically) Todd was called by the Roosters on the day he arrived at Airlie beach, or maybe 2 days into the trip, and required to report to a designated drug test venue in that area within a couple of hours, be tested, and then go back to the pub (or wherever).

Stick with it - hopefully bits and pieces will start making sense at some stage

I have to agree with you, I think too many people are ignorant to the fact that so many of their heros get on the illicit drugs quite regularly.

I'm not really concerned about it as much as I'm concerned about the use of PED's though.
