  • Time for Moa to start again

although I think the switch of Moa to the bench to give us better balance to our go forward over the entire 80 minutes, has worked pretty well over the last month, we are now in sudden death, there are no room for mistakes, we simply can't afford to start the match on the back foot on Friday night.

Moa must start to get us going forward from the opening whistle, we can't afford to get into the sideline to sideline pattern well fell into early against the Panthers.

I think you're spot on Fletch. We need to get on top early and that means having Sam and Jared leading the charges.

    Chook.

remember sams first up run in last years grand finbal , knocked stewart out for the entire game? not a bad start for a team on kick off return?

I thought Moa was a bit off his game last weekend. Not sure if he was buggered or couldn't get his timing right with Horrie Jr at dummy half.

I agree we have to get the ascendency early. We seemed to panic a bit when we couldn't pull away from Penrith early last match.

It's important to have either JWH or Moa on the field at any one time. They are our only front rowers who consistently bend the line.
I think the opposition would be very happy to have both of them off the field at the same time.
With both of them off the field we are left with little mongrel. Evans and Napa will get there but they aren't there yet.

I'm not sure I agree. I mean, yeah, early ascendency is nice and all but being able to complete and play the coach's game for 80 is critical. Look at last year's gf. I knew we'd come back as soon as we sustained some possession.

That ability has been sadly lacking this year.

Yep agreed... always one of our best on the field (and never given much credit for it).

I love how he mostly does the simple straight line run as hard as possible right through the big men without looking back. No frills required, just run hard son and keep hold of the pill!!!!

Then I saw his offload to SBW. Whaaaaat!!! The Lawn Moa is all class!!! The more time he gets, the better!!!

                  I agree Fletch.

FPN, Casty and Liu can take over when he has a breather.

JWH may play longer in his first spell so their subs are staggered a little.

Saw the boys train today. They looked sharp.

They gathered in a huddle for a while at the end of the session.

Don't think complacency will be an issue on Friday.

                  Easts to win.

This is what we want to hear. On one hand we are in a bit of trouble but on the other we are still 3 wins away from glory. A big win this week would really help them mentally prepare for Souths the following week. Fingers crossed. I really hope that we are not about witness Sonny's last NRL game so soon.

I firmly believe this will be our hardest game.

Purely because of the mental challenge the players face courtesy of the ugly prospect of getting bounced out in straight sets as defending Premiers.

Overcome this banana skin and we'll be very very hard to beat. Especially as we're Prelim specialists.

I think everybody does. This is part of the article from the SMH on 12th September about Robinson keeping the Roosters honest. You can read the full article from the attachment.

He (Robinson) shook prop Sam Moa's hand before last year's grand final. "Go hard" was the two-word instruction. Moa played the game of his life.

I'll say he did and I think he may be the difference this weekend. At the end of last years Grand Final I said Moa was MOTM despite only playing 48 minutes. In hindsight with the benefit of having watched the Grand Final replay on more than one occasion I think Maloney deserved it but Moa set us up early and hardly made a mistake all game. Nothing against DCE but I thought Foran was Manly's best player but I don't care about that.

Any doubts on the fitness of Cords and Maloney?
