How and why do you think this? That's three games in a row now where we have let the opposition right back in into the match.

Against Souths round 26, leading.. let them right back into it
Against Panthers, leading, let them right back into it and they win in the last minute
Against Cowboys, leading by THIRTY. 30-0 and let them back in it

If this trend is anything to go by, we're fked next week. The boys need to stop thinking "WE'LL BE RIGHT" once they're in the lead

It's the same complacency which is SCREWING us over big time
In all those games (plus the Sharks loss after leading 24-0). It's complacency ...when getting into a match winning lead and then someone gets reckless or careless which might seem insignificant with a big lead, but can totally change the momentum of the game.
    * In the sharks game 24-0 then it was that reckless pass from Pearce which gifted the sharks an intercept try.
    * Souffs game, 18 in front and Toupo coming off our line instead of just hitting it up, throws a careless no look pass to Issac Luke, then score and the momentum of the game changes.
    * Last night 30 in front, Mini rather casual drop of a bomb that I bet he would've caught if it was a tight scoreline ...that drop ball swung the momentum of the game.

Even 30 in front, you just have to stay switched on and not get lazy, careless etc
'Foot on the throat' needs to be the mindset. Modern day rugby league is all abut possession and momentum ..you can never switch off even 3 or 4 tries in front

    • Well said Hawkeye.

In those 3 games we've given away the softest of tries to completely change the momentum.

We just need to stay switched on and keep the foot on the throat.

Momentum is a funny thing. Souths apparently have it, but all it takes is a couple of great b2b sets in D and it can switch.

Anything can and probably will happen on Friday.

It may be a combination of both, but no doubt in my mind the most influential factor is complacency. You don't leak 30 straight points through interchange rotations. You just don't. It is a mental thing that has happened again and again this season. Robbo, as coach, needs to fix this. It is his job. They are simply clocking off and it is disgraceful.

We have almost the EXACT same side as last year and yet we have been inviting teams right back, unlike last year, all year. That to me doesn't suggest interchange problems. That to me says a mental factor like complacency and thinking we're king sh*t who have already gotten the job done

Last night wasn't complacency - cowboys are a very good side who got momentum and the bounce of the ball for the second 30 minutes of the game.

We found a way to win - a lesser team loses in the last 20

We won, we are in the prelim, and we have the best roster in the comp back to full strength at the right time.

We have the chance to knock souths out and make the gf - I firmly believe we will take that.

We may be flawed but we are a champion team that is also full of champions

That's why I believe Mr Norris, I urge you to believe too :-)
Yes, we did find a way to win. Which was a relief. I think I would've died if a team this talented actually gave the biggest lead in history away and lost.

Cowboys are a good side and they played well in the 2nd half, but that was also due to us letting them right back in.
*Cough* Minichiello *Cough with two of the biggest fugg ups he could have possible come up with.

Too right, mate, too right. There have been some absolutely defining moments in all those games you have mentioned. It only takes one moment of complacency/momentary lapse of concentration to cause a domino effect. That sh*t needs to be stamped out if we want to be Champions

          1. Mix up the interchange by staggering talent on roster
          2. Interchange players have no time to blend into the game - mindset should be rip in straight away . Run hard and straight for 10 minutes so established players can play of a platform, tackle with venom and sting anything or anyone in front of you, indecision is the biggest eroder of team confidence in your positional ability.
