When Thurston scored, the second ref crossed his arms, and importantly stayed at the spot of the knock on. Hayne then referred to him, which involved Hayne moving around to see what he wanted to tell him. Then hayne said no try. Then, as the 2nd ref held his ground, all the players moved toward him, ie all knowing it was a knock on. The vid ref was never going to 'overcall' the second ref standing on the 30m line, who was at the spot of the knock-on.

I'm a hardcore Roosters fan but if that was a blatant try and they didn't check, then **** me that just ain't fair.

If it was a clear knock on, which it was, then what's the harm in checking?

If it's a clear knock on there should be no need to check. The main reason for this is that the video ref may screw it up and award the try like he did to Liu and like he didn't to SBW.

Whilst the replay didn't confirm a grounding (although it looked like it was probably grounded on the other side of the arm) there was also no evidence to overturn the decision. You could also see clearly that once the ball had reached its lowest point, then the ball was pushed back in front of the line, so you had to think that beforehand, it was over the line. Overturning that decision from an on-field official was a disgrace!

There is always some controversy e.g. 2002 dogs cap, last year SKD try alleged forward pass, which is even funnier considering we won by 8.
Any other team would have been cleared once correct no try decision had been made. But still a week later people are still asking questions. Stuff em all.
