  • There are definitely fullbacks out there who can make things happen for others by, as you would call it Rocky, hold the ball up for others to run onto. It's no secret that the fullback role has evolved over the last few years to include play-making skills to the overall aspect of being a fullback. Have a look at Bill Slater. He was originally only a ball runner, and he was that effective at it that he didn't need to pass. But once he learnt the art of play-making out wide after combining with the halves, Melbourne went up a level and they became even more dangerous. Rocky, your just shooting yourself in the foot by making such claims that there is no such thing as a play-making fullback.

And on your point about Jarryd Hayne being moved out of five-eighth which means he is not a play-maker is IMO wrong. He can definitely run plays, but is most effective out wide and that was identified by Daniel Anderson. He might not be a play-maker in the league of Johnathon Thurston, but then again who is? Anybody that can create opportunities for others through following a pre-organised move such as a "blocker" play, which Hayne has shown to do, is one form of a play-maker.

    • if you think saying that you are digging your way to china is a cheap shot rocky, then you are softer than i thought !!!

it is funny that your definition of a playmaker does not involve fullbacks, yet many respected commentators and experts of the game of rugby league consider the role that hayne, hunt, Slater, gidley undertake as playmaking roles.

Are you saying that the world of rugby league, the comentators, the experts, the coaches, the players all have their meaning of a playmaker wrong and yours is right???

You have not provided evidence, you have not provided facts that fullbacks do not slot into playmaking roles during games. you have only provided a misguided definition based on your own "experience".

you have made your points, it is game over, your out of lives, please insert coin to continue.

Correcto-mondo Footy and others....... These playmaking fullbacks could also wear the no. 6 or 7 guernsey with distinction.

My point for Soward was kicking behind teammates... think you missed that totally. Not to mention I never argued otherwise that halves do most the kicking.

Give me some of what you're on.

That is usually from a kick by the opposition as in the first tackle. Once the fullbacks team is in an attacking position, they slip into the attacking formation and can dictate a lot more of the play and the making of it....

Hornby is probably the only real playmaking fullback there... hard to go past Karmichael Hunt though, the best playmaking fullback in 2009 by far

7th most try assists in the league (including all positions)
8th most line break assists in the league (including all positions)

              So much for RR's theory
