I know most have wraps on Napalm but he is so slow and lacks mobility JT
Trent I think will introduce a speed and strength approach during the off season - the argy bargy style played right into our opponents hands as most time we had the ball in our own half thru the season and coupled with 2 wingers and a fullback bringing the ball our made us fair game.If Trent took a season to realise this as quoted we learnt a lot this season was a little too late in my opinion.obviously there was other things going on internally that management had to deal with but what annoyed me the most was Gyngell lynching Pearce during the season and to MP credit his form improved towards the end of the season.

I am also not wild on Napa. It was more about being able to put Moa on the bench.

Napa is still young and inexperienced.

George Burgess was playing NSW Cup at the same stage of his development.

Point being: young props take 2-3 seasons minimum of tough senior footy to find their feet in 1st grade. This is more so than kids in any other position.

But Napa has already shown more than enough to suggest he'll be an elite prop. He improved at a rapid rate this season.

Cleary the Australian selectors see the potential in him too.

Off contract are SKD, JWH, Maloney, FPN, Tupou, Guerra and Napa (talking about regular first graders)

The year after that we have RTS, Cordner, Moa, Jennings, Liu and Maubs (regular first graders). We also have Nene, SoH and Meehan (others that have played 1st grade) I'd say that is around 3 million of the cap, Cordner and Jennings all on 600k max come that stage and RTS on a bit too.

With the cap going up, why do you think we will lose half a dozen players at the end of the next year? Not arguing with you, just interested on your thoughts

I think Napa and Guerra will be the only ones still there the next year. Maybe SKD as well. Though thats not based on any special information.

You also have to factor players coming in. Maybe a very very exciting one.

No way will we lose SKD, JWH, Maloney, FPN and Tupou.

That'd be an unheard of degree of change for a b2b Minor Premiership calibre team.

Obviously if Foran or Merrin come in then we'll lose some big names.

But ideally I'd like to see one of those come in at the expense of FPN and SKD/Tupou. Obviously Maloney will go if we sign Foran.

I agree that Napa and Guerra will be the priority. FPN can go. Cashed up teams like the Raiders will ensure the others are not worth our while.

                      Not in a million years.

                      Not even in my dreams.

Realistically Maloney will go because Hastings is being groomed to play in the halves.. The club has got the succession plan in full swing.. They would be hoping Nene can step up and replaced one of Toops and SKD. FPN would have to go too and Meehan/Evans will be looked to move into the 17 as well.
                          ...

Alright mate fair enough. IMO keeping JWH is important because our forwards are still very young and probably don't have the strength or intimidation behind them. If teams rock up to Allianz and all they see is Moa, they will be rubbing their hands together. Unless of course a buy a new forward, but even then I'd like to keep JWH.

I'd also like to keep Tupou too because I think we are still yet to see the best of him. I'm hoping loyalty and the enjoyment of playing outside Jennings keeps him around..... Mind you it's not like either saw enough ball this season.

As for Maloney, I like him but can understand if he leaves if Hastings is ready. Considering we had Anasta for 7 years or so, and he won nothing wrong us, it would be quite rough on our new 5/8, who has won 2 MP's, a premiership and a WCC, to not get a new deal. But that's footy I guess

And I don't like our chances of getting Merrin, he seems pretty dedicated to the Dragons for next year by looking at his Instagram.

Mind telling us which position that exciting player we might be getting, plays?
