  • New ideas for 2015.

I hope Robbo has some new ideas for our team in 2015. Reason being .... JT at Tigers and Greeny at Cowboys. They will know all the moves and plot our downfall.

Definitely, but I think it goes further than that. Despite being 1st in attack and 2nd in defence this year, I think we both
    a) lacked some creativity in attack, especially against the top sides, where it was largely our individual talent that got us points.
    b) have to move faster in defence, as our main issues this year were getting caught out in the middle due to the new ruck rules, and on the sidelines where teams moved the ball fast enough to get around the defence.

I'm expecting to see a different Roosters next year. With RTS moving to the back full time (probably) we will hopefully see some new ideas in attack. And our defence will hopefully be better, as a better off-season will allow the boys to be a bit more fresher which will help. Plus not being targeted by every team, every week should help our cause.

2013 with robbo and new great talent gave us a substantial edge in 2013. Plus our players were hungry to succeed. Second year with robbo, the opposition had a year to work us out, copy our good points and our hunger had unfortunately diminished. Last year it was said our guys were off the drink all season, yet they only decided to go off the drink after the loss to the Sharks late in 2014. That says something about the lack of commitment at the start of the season. Lets hope they go off the drink all season in 2015, that will show how committed they really are to succeed.

How about staying down if you cop a high shot? Works for every other club.

My pet hate. We struggle to get a penalty and Robbo even complains about it. When there is an obvious one we deserve then stay the fark down like the other 15 clubs do. Burgess would have been put on report if SBW stayed down for his grubby high shot.

Robbo was interviewed on triple m on Saturday and was very introspective as usual. He lamented the lack of off season and how that had to managed this season. Whilst he does not expect this off season to be as disrupted he still expects significant disruption and needs to learn from this season and focus on how to manage .

I am concerned with he impact of losing Taylor and green back to back . The last time we lost depth like this in our coaching ranks like this was in 04 when we Lost cleary hoss and dean pay. We also lost a club legend in Freddy and this time is it mini. Whilst mini is not in ferddy's league it will be an enormous void to fill. We missed the finals in 05 then had horror period until 2009 when we made the finals just once .

Let's hope history does not repeat itself . I fear a significant slide is on cards next season .

Look obviously no one has a clue what is about to transpire in the next few years, but I wouldn't be so worried that because we fell down hill after 2004 that it will happen to us from next year onwards. It's obviously not ideal to lose two assistants within two years at the same time our two leaders on the field and in training leave (Mini and SBW), but I have faith that we will still come back bigger and stronger next year and beyond. We still have Robbo, who we all know is 100 times the coach Stuart was, and the playing group is young and are yet to hit their straps. It may take a little while to click next year due to the losses but I feel the next few years will be quite successful.

To make matters worse, we become a bigger magnet for high shots by not staying down. Oppositions are more likely to risk a high shot on a key player if they know they will try to get up. The easy way to take the high moral ground is actually admitting he has instructed his players to lie down every time they are hit high because the referee's refused to give penalties when they got up. Every other coach denies it.

Use of the bomb to be the exception rather than the rule unlike the past decade.

We need a whole fresh new approach and attitude. This team never improved from last year whilst other teams got better. Our defence went from A + to a B+. Our attack whilst, somehow, the best never looked all that polished. Phil Gould says in his article this week that we didn't really deserve to be Minor Premiers this season. Looking back, i sort of agree.

                            Geez guys pump up.

Trying imagining Jennings on one side and Ferguson on the other. Thats pretty darn potent. For me a lot depends on the progress of RTS and we wont know that until he fills the role full time. If he can take the high ball and play that linking 5/8 role in attack we have a lot to look forward to.

Personally we have paid the price for not only being the most penalised team, but being the team with the most integrity. This year showed it does not pay to be brave and get to your feet after you have had your head taken off. The reffs do not reward bravery.

They reward cowards like Michael Ennis. So Robbo has a choice to make coz nothing will change from the reffs end. If SBW stayed down V Burgess we get a penalty for sure. And how many times have u seen JWH get smashed in the head only for him to get straight to his feet and play the ball. No penalty of course.

As proud of them as I am, perhaps we need to go to the dark side.
