Good on you for giving the kid an opportunity to see how 'the other half lives'.

Once he's spent some time serving individuals who are browbeaten and defeated after countless years in a boring occupation hopefully he'll realise that footy life has its advantages, ie, he gets to spend his time doing what he loves, something most people never get the chance to do.

You've given him a head start. Hopefully in time he can repay the kindness by getting his life back on track, which I'm sure is what you're aiming for and all you want from the gesture.
